Just what is "restraint" anyway? I would like someone to define restraint within the context of the situation. At what point does retaliation become too much?
If anything, Israel has been too careful considering the fact that her neighbors want to hear nothing of peaceful coexistence. The only time Israel's neighbors seriously consider peace is when they need to reload.
Most of those calling for Israel to exercise "restraint" really mean that they want Israel to stop short of actually destroying the future ability of Hizbollah and Hamas and terrorist-sponsoring Islamo-facsist government to exterminate Israel. Can't have Israel doing anything to guarantee that Iran won't nuke'em in the near future!
Take them all of Hezbolla and Hamas and the PLO, the ruling class in Syria, and the islamo fascists in Iran, and kill them. Let the surviving people rebuild their cities in peace. That should suffice as "restraint". No need to execute women and children and old folks. Just the rest.
Shock and Oy Vey
"Just what is "restraint" anyway?"
Restraint is hitting military targets and not carpet bombing southern Lebanon. Israel is presently exercising restraint.
There is an aggressive element in the Middle East, he said, and that is Hizbullah. As friends of Israel we must advise it to maintain level-headedness and restraint.
The key words are "maintain" and that Hizbullah is the "aggressive element". This is a carefully worded statement that SO FAR Israel HAS shown "level headedness and restraint against an agressor hiding in ostensibly friendly territory.
