Let’s consider the bright side of this unfolding Big Dig disaster.
Massachusetts could lose not one, but two seats in Congress after the 2010 census. Talk about a silver lining - bye-bye Barney, adios Olver. Move on Meehan, take a hike Tierney.
The rest of the country will get a chuckle out of our predicament, because Massachusetts is a laughingstock, more so than ever after the combination of Third World-style corruption and incompetence called the Big Dig that has brought Boston to its knees.
They’re snickering at us - and not behind our backs, either.
But what’s new? Why do you suppose Mitt Romney always cracks wise in the Sun Belt about the state’s Sodom-and-Begorrah reputation? Because everybody gets the joke.
Ted Kennedy-gay marriage-John Kerry-Barney Frank-Harvard-Mumbles-the Bulgers-Mike Dukakis-Provincetown-Chappaquiddick-(fill in your own favorite embarrassment). And now the $14.6-billion Tunnel o’ Death. Don’t kill the job - kill the commuters. Look for the union label.
The state was already hemorrhaging people - taxpayers mostly. How many FOR SALE signs do you see on your block? And how few of them include the attachment below that says SOLD? Have you ever seen so many FOR RENT signs in the suburbs? These are houses whose fleeing owners can’t find buyers. In Massachusetts these days, there are only sellers.
But it’s not all bad news. We’re going to lose at least one congressman, maybe two - knock on wood! The most logical consolidation will be out west. Rep. John Olver of Amherst, a dolt’s dolt, turns 70 in September.
His district already extends from the New York state line to the outskirts of Lowell. It’s ripe for consolidation with Richie Neal’s, whose gerrymandered Second District runs from Springfield into Greater Providence.
That’s the obvious one-lost-seat solution. The more amusing question is, what if Massachusetts loses two - and it’s happened before, after the 1960 census. A Republican and a conservative Democrat were eliminated in that round of consolidation. Those are the ones who’ve always taken the pipe - in 1980, it was Republican Peg Heckler, and in 1990, traditional Democrat Brian Donnelly was forced to the sidelines.
But now the delegation is fresh out of Republicans and moderate Democrats. Now even pols who used to be seminormal - Steve Lynch and Mike Capuano - are moonbatted up. Now the nearest thing to an ideological dispute in the delegation is over who is the maximo supremo presidente in the Western Hemisphere - Fidel or Hugo.
One solution would be for one or more of the congressional graybeards to call it quits rather than battle it out with another incumbent. The primary battles wouldn’t take place until 2012. By then Barney Frank will be 72, Bill Delahunt 70 and “Fast” Eddie Markey 66.
One thing seems certain: There will no open Senate seat to tempt any of these pinko popinjays to “move up.” The Swimmer’s mom lived past 100, and as for Liveshot - of what possible social-climbing use is he as a gigolo to Mama T if he doesn’t have that title in front of his name?
So except for Olver, it appears likely everyone will attempt to hang on. After all, none of them (except Lynch) has ever had a real job.
Suppose Marty “Midas” Meehan has to dip into his $5 million warchest to take out John Tierney? Would Fidel’s man in Worcester, Jim McGovern, find himself going toe-to-toe with Bill “Chavez” Delahunt?
Now, if only the Constitution could be amended so that our imploding state could also be stripped of a U.S. Senate seat. Lurch vs. the Swimmer - now that would be entertainment.

Masachussetts is a rapidly declining thirld world homosexual state. My daughters who live there came up with that.
Unions and Mob subcontractors. In any large project I suspect those will be the primary characteristics of the work in that part of the country.

Somebody else agrees with me that Theresa married Hanoi John for the Title and perks of a Senators wife. It was a two-way street Hanoi John wantd the money and use of the plane and homes and Theresa wanted her ass kissed as a Senators wife.

And I seem to recall having heard Mother Teresa (or was it The Gigolo?) say that she forced him to sign a prenup. If this is true,The Gigolo will probably be forced to endure his retirement of his $150K/yr,fully inflation protected Senate pension.
Ohmigod...the article states that Mass will lose one or perhaps two House seats after the 2010 census. I know of two of the exiles in our little neighborhood here in NC. I know they came south to get out of Boston. Long term, if they vote right here, we will pick up their seats in the House and sdd to the conservative majority. The alternative - that they will corrupt our state - is unthinkable.
Maybe we could get a poll of how many people think if Kerry isnt re-elected Mama T Heinz moves on.
Let's not forget that it is this same systemic corruption that brought us 9/11. It was no random accident that the terrorists chose Logan Airport from which to launch their attack. They chose an airport where hacks and political appointees abounded and therefore security was at a minimum. So this one death is not the first death that can be attributed to the MA culture of corruption. It is merely the first since the 3,000+ deaths on Sept. 11, 2001.

It's happening in New Hampshire. They're turning steadily left thanks to an influx of Mass. refugees.
We know folks who commute to work in MA from NH. They spend upwards of three hours a day commuting because they can't afford to live in MA. But none of them are lefties. They're too po'ed.
This is where Kennedy and Kerry will introduce "sample data" methods to inflate teh census.
This is also why they want to put in illegals with a path to citizenship.
Illegals move to urban areas.
With the big dig falling appart taxpayers have to be very nervous in Mass.
Massachutsetts and all liberal states will reap what they have failed to sow. They have weakened the bonds of family, faith, and freedom and are sufferring because of it. It isn't a surprise that the plight of states like Massachutsetts are mirroring the European socialist nations they have tried their best to emulate.
Just looking at one of the most conservative states in the Union Utah.

Federal taxpayers are paying for Kennedy's Hole, whether you live in UT, VT, TX, CO, etc.
Massachusetts is unique when it comes to dissipating loot.
