Israeli warplanes attack Hezbollah stronghold

Israeli warplanes struck targets in the southern suburbs of Beirut where Hezbollah has its political headquarters and blasted a fuel storage tank at a power station south of the capital early today, Lebanese security officials and witnesses said.

The impact of at least four missiles were heard in the attack on south Beirut. Anti-aircraft fire from the ground echoed in other suburbs of Beirut as the planes roared over the Lebanese capital.

Hezbollah's al-Manar TV and other local stations said a bridge in the area was targeted.

There was no immediate word on casualties and it was not clear whether the bridge was hit.

Israeli officials have said that south Beirut, a densely populated neighborhood of Shia Muslims where Hezbollah has its political headquarters, could be targeted. Leaflets dropped last evening warned people to stay away from Hezbollah offices.

Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah has his office and residence in the district of Haret Hreik in south Beirut. Hezbollah's Shura Council, its decision-making body, and the TV station are also located in that area, a section heavily guarded by Hezbollah.

The targeted area lies between the Lebanese capital and the international airport, which was twice hit by Israeli warplanes yesterday.

As long as northern Israel is under widespread attack, the Lebanese will know neither peace nor quiet.

(The Palestinian terrorist regime is the crisis and Israel's fist is the answer.)

The IDF hit the station a day or two ago, but propaganda broadcasting is very important to Islamo-fascists. They tend to have backup equipment.

Israeli warplanes struck...

What kind of war planes? What did they strike with? Ugh, I detest how dumbed down press reports are getting.
