Very old Hollywood joke: Starving beggar with tin cup: ''I haven't eaten for three days.'' Zsa Zsa Gabor: ''Dahlink, I wish I had your will power.''
Up-to-the-minute Hollywood joke, from Agence-France Presse:
''U.S. Stars Align In Anti-Iraq War Hunger Strike.
''Star Hollywood actor-activists including Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon and anti-war campaigners led by bereaved mother Cindy Sheehan plan to launch a hunger strike, demanding the immediate return of U.S. troops from Iraq.
''As Americans get set to fire up barbecues in patriotic celebration of U.S. Independence Day on July 4, anti-war protesters planned to savor a last meal outside the White House, before embarking on a 'Troops Home Fast' at midnight . . .

a 'rolling' fast, a relay in which 2,700 activists pledge to refuse food for at least 24 hours, and then hand over to a comrade.''Not only can they not make movies like they used to, these people can't even be idiot 60's activists like they used to.

Absent that, it's hard to see what a ''rolling fast'' does except confirm the vague suspicion one or two Americans may harbor that politically active celebrities are a lot of vain dilettantes unwilling to discombobulate their pampered lifestyles. I am as amused by the Left's phony "sacrifice" as I am with their audacity to always try to use Christ as a political weapon.
They care nothing about what He said about sin, heaven, hell, death, or salvation, but want to claim Him to appear to have a moral foundation.
God will not be mocked.

I'd pay money to hear what Sarandon feels about Bush's faith-based initiative.

I wonder if these self-important bozos have any clue how offensive their blasphemy is. I currently see no way on God's green earth that I'll ever vote for a godless democrat...and their efforts to lie about their faith is not convincing.

"Personally, if celebrities have to ''put their bodies on the line for peace,'' I'd much rather see them bulk up. How about if Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow promise to put on 20 pounds for every month Bush refuses to end his illegal war?
I would love to see this suggestion reach the public.

Intellectual dishonesty.
And these people think they know what is best for our country.
But, what else could you expect from people who get paid millions of dollars for pretending to be real people?

America's greatest living war hero and simultaneous anti-war hero, John Kerry, pledged his own passionate support for the crusade of his celebrity friends: ''I ordered the banana cream pie before I sent it back.''Priceless!

Fabulous article (as always) from Steyn! And the idiot leftists consider a "rolling fast" a political statement: too funny for words!

The problem for the ''activists'' is that the entire anti-war movement is undernourished. Indeed, in all their contempt for America as an effete narcissistic ninny too soft and self-absorbed to stand any pain, even al-Qaida couldn't have come up with as withering a parody of the Great Satan's decadence as a celebrity pseudo-fast.Another great Steyn piece...

This is a dead on classic Mark Steyn gut-busting howler. And its all pure comedy as Steyn satirizes the self-indulgent behavior of Hollywood's gourmet crowd and their so-called "rolling fast" against the war with Jihad Cindy. My favorite line is Steyn's Michael Moore punch line: "Michael Moore, hovering dangerously at 300 pounds, has told friends, ''You can never be too rich but you can be too thin.''" Its hard to get svelte when you're hovering dangerously at 300 pounds but that's Hollywood's idea of crash diet: eat like a glutton when no one's watching. ROFLMAO!

Oh and I bust a gut laughing so hard at this sketch of America's greatest living war hero and simultaneous anti-war hero, cause I swear, its all true! To wit:
"America's greatest living war hero and simultaneous anti-war hero, John Kerry, pledged his own passionate support for the crusade of his celebrity friends: 'I ordered the banana cream pie before I sent it back.' "
Somehow, I figured Jean Francois Cheri was torn between having the banana cream pie and foregoing it in solidarity with Her Jihadness. BWAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

This reminds me why I appreciate really good writers. I've been trying to convey this along with many others for two weeks, but Steyn hits it out of the park. As most things funny, it's the truisms that bring out the humor. |
