Jimmy Carter decries (U.S., but not Venezuelan) foreign interference in Nicaragua vote

Managua, Jul 6 (EFE).- Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said here Thursday that he opposes any attempts by foreign powers to influence the Nicaraguan presidential election, set for Nov. 5.

The statement was made by Carter in Managua at the end of his four-day visit to the country to familiarize himself with how the electoral process is unfolding.

Speaking on behalf of his Atlanta-based Carter Center, the former president said: "Almost all of the Nicaraguans with whom we spoke expressed concern about foreign governments endorsing, vetoing, or funding specific candidates." Carter criticized the position of the U.S. government, which has said that two of the Nicaraguan presidential candidates are acceptable, but not the other three.

He also raised the issue of whether another country, which he did not name, was supporting some of the Nicaraguan municipalities governed by the leftist Sandinista party.

Leftist-ruled Venezuela recently signed an accord with Sandinista mayorships to supply petroleum at preferential prices, and Caracas has delivered fertilizers and offered free eye operations to poor Nicaraguans.

Scroll down for the full travesty. But careful, there's a photo.

Notice that even though Hugo Chavez is meddling in Nicaragua's election up the wazoo with all kinds of cheap or free oil to leftist mayors, but not rightwing ones, Jimmah says the only problem is with the U.S., which has issued some warnings to Nicaraguans that they'll get their aid cut off if they vote for Daniel Ortega (remember him? The sunglass-loving scumbag that Reagan called 'the little dictator' and 'the skunk at the garden party'?) for president.

Jimmah has tons of abuse for the U.S. but absolutely none for Hugo Chavez who is all over that election. Jimmah and Hugo go way back, they are best friends.

You know, I think people with leftist views take positions that are insane all the time, but I don't necessarily think THEY are insane. Jimmah is the exception. I seriously think that old f*rt is just flat certifiably insane and ought to be in a home where they can keep an eye on him.

Carter's stance is another incarnation of the old leftist double-standard of condemning American "meddling" overseas, while tolerating far more egregious intervention by left-wing dictatorships.

The United States government has the full right, by the way, to state its own position on which Nicaraguan candidates it deems acceptable and which it does not. After all, the United States government even has the right to deem entire *regimes* acceptable or unacceptable! It has done the latter with Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq, for instance.

"Jimmah and Hugo go way back, they are best friends."

More than that.
Jimmah helped the puffed up blowhard Chavez, steal the elections in Venezuela a few years back.
So far Jimmah is yet to see a maniacal dictator he didn't love.

Jimmy is simply a butt-monkey for Chavez and every other tinpot dictator around the world. Any chance to bash the USA, Jimmy Carter will be there...... but don't expect him to trouble his favorite butt-boys of Venezuela, Zimbabawe, N. Korea, etc. with the slightest bit of criticism.

And, supposedly, an American!

Kim Jong Il love him such long time he named a rocket after him. The only problem is it wouldn't lift off the launch pad, the guidance system keeps drifting to unselected targets and the onboard computer keeps connecting to a teen chat room in Georgia for data uplinks.

Fat chance - given his status as former POTUS, he has a Secret Service detail with him: If he wanders off, they'll just bring him back ...
