Anti-abortion posters draw complaints(and threats of bodily harm)

KITTANNING - Borough Police Chief Ed Cassesse said his department received more than a dozen calls within five minutes regarding several box-van trucks that were driving through city streets with graphic anti-abortion posters on their sides.

According to Kathy Knepshield, a staff member of the Armstrong County YMCA, several of the trucks rolled past the YMCA on North Water Street around noon and one of the drivers was allegedly taking photos of children in an outdoor day camp. Knepshield said the posters, bearing images of an aborted fetus, upset many of the children in the camp.

"The first time a truck passed only a few children noticed it," Knepshield said. "However, within a few minutes two more trucks, all with identical posters, made two more passes, driving very slowly. The children started to ask questions, such as 'Is that an abortion?' and 'Why is there a dead baby...?' I told them I wasn't comfortable discussing it and that they should refer their questions to their parents. This was all witnessed by myself and four other staff members."

One parent, Brenda Sarambo of Kittanning, had her six-year-old twins attending the camp. Sarambo said the images upset her children and prompted her to contact the sponsoring organization, The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, based in Lake Forest, Calif., by e-mail.

Seems like these kids have not yet been properly indoctrinated by government schools and government-funded programs about "choice".

These kids were appropriately repulsed by ABORTION photos, and I bet the photos will cause at least a few of them to reject any future attempts at re-programming by the government.

In Sarambo's e-mail, she said, "...If I ever catch one of (those) trucks in my town again, I promise you I will personally rip the driver out of the truck and beat him senseless..."

Wow... now that's a lesson your kids will want to see.

Sorry. Not a fan of this sort of tactic. Kids should be left alone, not exposed to the evil that is abortion. Or to put it another way, I'm willing to bet most on FR would be somewhat steamed if some liberal group began driving a fan around their children's school with pictures of the Abu Gharib scandal plastered on the sides.

Can't agree with you. This is free speech. The evil that is abortion is one of the key areas were such speech is suppressed.

The kids need to know because it's a "choice" they may face in their own lives after having been deliberately misinformed and under-informed. Your Abu Ghraib example is a completely non sequitur.

Well restraint is a two way street and the time has passed where conservatrives are going to sit around listening to the "Vagina Monologues" and just remain silent as their values are mocked and derrided. Bring on Abu Grab... my kids know the difference between a man with underwear on his head and a man with no head..

Sorry, but that is already happening. You are way behind the times.

' I told them I wasn't comfortable discussing it

That's because you can't discuss it with a rational human being without being either against abortion or FOR it no matter how many times the baby killers insist "no one is actually for abortion"

Funny how the images make one squimeeish but the actual act of jamming an object into a child's skull and sucking their brain out is a constitutional right.

Am not implying that their rights of free speech should be curtailed. It is the tactic which they are using to spread their message I disagree with. Besides being inappropriate for little ones, I'm willing to bet it's counterproductive.

Ain't the tolerance for our diversity shown by the left just heartwarming?

I know it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling way deep down inside to now that this Sarambo person has so much love and respect for those with differing opinions.

I don't think these trucks were targeting little children. They just happened to be around when the trucks were passing.

The truth is never counterproductive.

...willing to bet it's counterproductive.

Actually, it made the news, people are talking, I'd say it has already been productive.

This is something that some would like the images of aborted fetus to remain in the "back room", not available for everyone to see. It's like, let's give it a name but don't show any pictures.

Sounds like the kids haven't learned rationalization yet.

I see that the complainers used the old "they are photographing children" trick.

The goal is to have more people understand what abortion is - especially those who have been sheltered from the truth.

In this regard, their success is amazing. I have been present when such displays are employed and it generates lots of crystal clear dialogue. Most people feel compelled to agree that its wrong when they have to deal with the photos. Its simply raw truth - and a raw truth that is masked by the devil so artfully.

I can see your point, but I also see them using the kids as captive audiences in the schools to indoctrinate them into supporting abortion, homosexuality, etc., while "protecting" them from the horrors of the results - bloody, mangled fetuses, AIDS, and other results of the perversions that get pushed as "normal" and even "noble".

I guess I'd rather have some kids exposed to the raw truth than to have them go blindly into the evil that is being poured into their heads.

Coward! Tell them the truth.

Too bad there weren't any "truth trucks" rolling around Nazi Germany.

Gladly assisted by the newsidiot.
