Ninety percent of California small-business owners who are members of the National Federation of Independent Business gave their approval to endorse a candidate in this year's gubernatorial election, according to a survey released today.
And 95 percent of the votes were for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Only 1 percent of the people who employ the majority of working Californians supports State Treasurer Phil Angelides for governor, the survey shows.
Four percent of survey respondents chose other candidates. Based on the results from the fax survey conducted in June that drew 1,124 respondents, the NFIB board voted to endorse Schwarzenegger for re-election.
"When you have one candidate promising to raise every tax in the state on one side and a governor with a measurable record of doing his best for small business on the other side, the lopsided result can't be much of a mystery," Martyn Hopper, state director for the 35,000-member NFIB/California, said in a statement. "Governor Schwarzenegger has been positively stellar for Main Street, California, mom-and-pop firms."
His biggest accomplishment, according to Hopper, was his arrest of workers' compensation rates.
"Under his leadership, average workers' compensation rates have fallen by more than 50 percent, and our members report significant rate reductions of this mandatory tax," Hopper said.
Hopper also credited Schwarzenegger with helping stop frivolous lawsuits, supporting tort reform, rejecting tax increases, pushing for state conformity of federal deductions for health savings accounts, fighting employer-mandated healthcare, working for overtime reform and improving the financial status of the state.
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is the state and nation's largest small-business advocacy group. A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1943, NFIB represents the consensus views of its 600,000 members in Washington and all 50 state capitals.
The NIFB is a lobby, closely associated with the Republican Party.
Harder's firm, located in California until the early 90's, has spent $25M in the past few years lobbying for Republican Party causes and it's candidates.

Yes, I have repeatedly suggested the obvious. A vote for the Wilsonegger gang will not advance conservatism. A vote for Schwarzenegger has and will continue to advance liberalism.
No, I have never suggested surrendering the franchise. There are many conservatives, qualified by the CSS to run for governor in 2006. In addition Californians may vote for anyone for governor, including themselves.
The information in my initial reply was offered to inform other Freepers of the deceit involved in the CAGOP's posting. An informed electorate is essential if California is to survive the next decade.
The postings on this forum by the CAGOP are becoming so ludicrous in there efforts to misdirect that they might as well be offered by the Democrat or Green Party. That's why we call it the silly season.

Again, the NIFB is a lobbing firm, closely associated with the Republican Party supporting a Republican candidate.
The facts are that about 3% of the NIFB's California membership replied to a fax survey and of those who faxed back a response (it could have been the janitor), about 95% supported Schwarzenegger.
That's 3% of NIFB members in California favoring Schwarzenegger's reelection in a questionable poll with a error rate of +- 97%.
