The GOP candidate seeking to unseat Hillary Rodham Clinton outed her gay brother dying of AIDS to her family and blamed his sexual orientation on her father - before cutting off family ties, New York magazine reports.
Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland, 54 - who once briefly declared Clinton's helicopters were buzzing her beach house to take pictures - shot off long, angry letters to her parents shortly after she discovered her brother Michael Troia had AIDS, the magazine is reporting in its new issue.
"Have you ever wondered why I have never had anything to do with Mike and have never let my daughters see him although we live only fifteen minutes away from each other?" she wrote.
"He has been a lifelong homosexual, most of his relationships brief, fleeting one-night stands."
Michael Troia died of the disease on June 8, 1995; "his obituary listed three companions," according to New York.
McFarland said a shrink put her up to writing the letter.
"Ummmm. He was sick and then he died," is all she would say when pressed about her late sibling, the magazine said.
When the magazine reached her mother for comment, Edith Troia - KT has since made up with her parents - denied the account.
"Wouldn't that make a great book?" she said. "Please be kind. You could be casting dark shadows on this whole race."
McFarland underwent repressed-memory therapy, which she says led to her beliefs her father is to blame for her brother being gay and many other family problems, the magazine reports.
The eldest of four children in Madison, Wis., where her father worked the night shift as a train dispatcher, KT went to George Washington University and Michael Troia, who lived in New York City, followed.

The Hillary supporters have been doing some digging. I guess she found a replacement for Pelicano, but the dirt is just as dirty.
She may be whacky, but who do you think is making sure the press gets the info?
She was Pataki's choice, he deliberately picked a real loser. Not based on this story, but based on her whole record in this campaign.

Depends - which Clinton and what does McFarland look like?
I don't support McFarland at all, as she's an uber-RNIO, but the magazine had no business making this public. This is a private matter which is completely irrelevent to her campaign.
As for her father, he sounds like scum, unworthy of love or devotion. If what she claimed is true (and she never sought to make it public), she was right to cut him off.
I didn't read anything in that article that cast any aspersions on her father, except for what SHE claimed in blaming her brother's homosexuality on him; though there was no explanation of that either.
If he died of AIDS and his obituary listed "3 companions" then I suspect his parents would have figured it out if they did not know already.
She needs to sit down and shut up.

Spencer would have been better off running for Governor. His chances of defeating Hillary are similar to the Detroit Lions winning the Super Bowl next year.
Modern psychology. Scapegoat the father for every thing that is wrong in your life. By blaming him, you don't have to face the unpleasant fact of how you are personally responsible for messing up your own life. All you have to do is make up some excuse and call it recovering repressed memories. But most import, blame it all on daddy, little child that you are. By withdrawing into childhood during your hour-long therapy sesseion, you can profess your innocence.
