$10m reward to find Iraq killers

The Russians were seized on 3 June

Russia is offering a $10m (£5.4m) reward for information leading to the capture of the militants who killed four Russian diplomats in Iraq. A group linked to al-Qaeda released a video on Monday showing two of the captives being killed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered special services to "find and destroy" the killers of the hostages, who were abducted in early June.

The reward offer has been widely publicised on Arab television channels.

'Time and effort'

"In return for information leading to a result, Russia's National Anti-terrorist Committee will pay a reward of $10m," said Nikolai Patrushe, head of Russia's security service, in televised comments.

BOUNTIES FOR WANTED MEN

* $25m - Offered by US for information on Osama Bin Laden (at large)
* $25m - Offered by US for information on militant leader in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (now dead)
* $25m - Offered by US for information on Saddam Hussein (now on trial)
* £10m - Offered by Russia for information on Chechen militant Shamil Basayev (at large)
* $5m - Offered by US for information on former Bosnian Serb leaders Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic (at large)
He promised earlier this week to carry out Mr Putin's order "however much time and effort it requires", Russia's Interfax news agency reported.

A Russian official said the country had received offers of help on the issue from "many overseas partners".

The Russian embassy employees were abducted when gunmen attacked their vehicle in the west Baghdad neighbourhood of Mansur on 3 June.

A fifth Russian citizen was killed during the kidnapping.

The video posted on the internet on Monday by the militant group, the Mujahideen Shura Council, showed one of the captives being beheaded and another being shot. The body of a third man was also shown.

Russia confirmed all the deaths the following day

That's a lot of money to avenge "diplomats".

So much, it's almost like they were spies.

The Russians don't have an ACLU or SCOTUS to get in their way, either. They WILL hunt these scum down and they WILL kill them, probably in a fairly brutal way. They will also probably kill anyone associated with the scumbags.

The Islamofacists really shouldn't have made Putin mad. His troops don't have to fight with one hand and most of the other tied behind their backs like ours do...

I wonder if Russia is going to now stop being a willing accomplice to militant Islam and Arab rogues. Thousands of Russians have been killed been Islamic radicals connected with the Chechan conflict, yet Russia continued to act as Saddam Hussein's main patron and continues to act as chief enabler of Iran and Syria. It's time Putin wake the hell up and stop playing his crappy games and realize these people are playing for keeps!

Absolutely they will kill them.

Do you remember what they did in Lebanon when one of their KGB agents was kidnapped?

I was not pretty or subtle, and they had their man back the next day.

An additional reward of $2 million is being offered by the Air Line Pilots Association and the Air Transport Association for OBL.

Not our problem, not our war and not a threat to us. Take this $5 million away from that and roll it over into the bounty on Bin Laden's head instead. Let France and Germany pay for a bounty on Serbs. It's not our war.

If my employer sends me to the middle east to do contract work and let's say during my free time I captured or kill OBL and get a reward. Does my employer have any claim on my reward money?

The Russian military may have it's problems but cowardice isn't one of them. I remember reading part of an after action report from the Beslan masacre and I can honestly say that Russia has some truly heroic people walking among them.

When Russia owes you 10 million dollars, that is like money in the bank.

"My mother-in-law did it."

LOL, okay.

First you'll have to send a 'document fee' to my Nigerian associate before I can make the $10M transfer to your account.

Why don't they send some troops to join the coalition in Iraq if they are upset about this.

Puck Futin, and his "diplomats" too. Oh, yeah, Pucking Futin is the great scurge of Islamists. Yeah, sure, when he's not selling them arms, that is, or enabling and protecting the Arab and Persian dictators they're in symbosis with.

Makes you wonder what Mr. Diplomacy would have done if it were 3000 Russians that were murdered by the terrorists on 9/11...

I was not pretty or subtle, and they had their man back the next day.

But, they didn't save these hostages like they did decades ago, did they. It's silly, wishful thinking that the Russians can carry out covert assassinations nowadays because they no longer are Soviet masters of client states.

I think we probably would have gotten more help from Yeltsin. A case of vodka and he would have been all over it.

That's true ~ then there's a long standing tradition of Russian brutality.
