ACLU Keeps It Real

Education: The ACLU is defending the right of school officials to force-feed American students with pro-Communist propaganda about Cuba. It's perfectly in line with the group's Marxist origins.

The American Civil Liberties Union and the Miami-Dade County Student Government Association filed suit in U.S. District Court in Miami last week to keep the Miami-Dade School District from removing children's books depicting life in Cuba under Fidel Castro as a bed of red roses.

The school board had voted 6 to 3 to oust from all 33 school libraries Alta Schreier's book "A Visit to Cuba," written for 5-, 6- and 7-year-olds, which shows smiling Cuban children wearing Communist Party youth group uniforms.

"A book that misleads, confounds or confuses has no part in the education of our students," board member Perla Tabares Hantman commented, "most especially elementary students, who are most impressionable and vulnerable."

Again, the ACLU is showing it lacks basic respect for democratic decision making exercised by the people's elected representatives. This time, however, it will have a fight on its hands. The school district intends to go to court to defend the board's decision.

ACLU founder Roger Baldwin would be proud. He infamously stated that "communism is the goal" and that he sought the "social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and sole control by those who produce wealth." ...

...Baldwin's "glowing account of Russia" in his 1928 tome, "Liberty Under the Soviets," displays the ACLU founder's double standard.

In the book, Baldwin condemns "repressions in Western democracies" while excusing the same under the communist regime as "weapons of struggle in a transition period to socialism."

To this day, the ACLU uses the U.S. legal system in ways that would please Josef Stalin...

Thanks T.T., they've obscured their history even better than Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood.

Will return later just in case some of the loud and arrogant group of frauds on Free Republic show up to defend one of their gods, the ACLU.

Funding needs to be stopped to this Un American organization. Its time we start hounding our leaders to do so and do it under this exact pretext. They do not defend peoples rights as expressed by the laws but usurp the peoples rights.

Do what Liberal Bookstores do with Conservative Best Sellers... hide them in the fiction or Political Policy sections. I wouldn't put this book amongst Children's or Juvenile level books, but in a Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress classification of "Political Propaganda". It would be available to anyone, but it's use as a propaganda tool by the ACLU would be blunted.

Well done!

A while back I stumbled onto a list of the Medal of Freedom awardees.
I did take note of Carter's award to Baldwin...in contrast to
Papa Bush's award to Gen. Jimmy Doolittle.

Tells you a bit about those two Presidents...
