ACLU Calls Supreme Court's Hamdan Decision a Victory for the “Rule of Law”
Stop The ACLU ^ | 29-Jun-06 | John Stephenson

I knew this wouldn't take long! The ACLU are breaking out the champaign glasses and popping the cork! It is celebration time for the left, as Al Qaeda terrorists now have ‘protections’ via the Geneva Conventions thanks to the US Supreme Court.

In a sharp rebuke to the Bush administration, the United States Supreme Court today ruled 5-3 that the military commissions system established by President Bush to try detainees at Guantánamo Bay is unfair and illegal. The American Civil Liberties Union, which filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the case, applauded the decision.

Soon we will have hundreds of sound bites from democrats praising a decision favorable to terrorists. That's the upside.

Yep, keep thinking you won ACLU because now the terrorist can be held until the end of The War on Terrorism (20-30 years?). Be careful what one ask for because they just might get it.

I would call it a victory for al-Qaeda.

No problem. Release them all! Our boys will shoot to kill first and ask questions later. This ruling all but guarantees that terrorists or non-terrorists for that matter caught on the battlefield will be killed for sure.

Sounds like a plan. Happy hunting boys.

So, I guess there won't be trials. That shouldn't be a big problem. Since they're illegal combatants to begin with, they can just be shot now.

It's a victory for the rule of judicial imperialism and arbitrary judgments by left wing political judges.

Once again, this decision confirms that the appointment of decent, fair, conservative judges is the single most important item on the political agenda, even more important than fighting the war on terror. Because you can't fight a war while the country is being undermined by traitors.

We need to build the coalition of Christian conservatives and libertarian conservatives to take back our courts, so the laws will be decided by the Constitution, due process, and the voice of the people, not by arbitrary judicial fiat by left-wing activists.

That means the right to life must be inseperably combined with the right to liberty, for neither is possible without the other.

There must be no compromise. We need more Alitos, as many as possible, until our courts have been taken back from these elitist destroyers of our country.

If we quit taking prisoners, we don't have to care for them.

Yup. Maybe the detainees at gitmo will send thank you notes to the folks at the ACLU and the attorneys for Hamdan for this legal victory.

Maybe not.

I think I read or heard that the administration is trying to get rid of a lot of them but their own countries don't want them back! HA!

"Soon we will have hundreds of sound bites from democrats praising a decision favorable to terrorists. That's the upside."

Very true. The delight they and the terrorists will express to this news is very telling and damning for the democrats. Most American want Gitmo prisonors to face military trial. No person with common sense trusts the courts in the US to handle terrorists properly.
