A new poll suggests the vast majority of Americans are unaware that Canada is the largest foreign supplier of crude oil to the U.S.
The Canadian American Business Council (CABC) — which represents some of the biggest private sector companies in both countries — said its survey of 1,000 Americans found that only four per cent of respondents thought Canada was the country that provided them with more oil than anyone else.
The survey also found that 41 per cent of Americans asked would support replacing oil from unstable areas of the world with oil from Canada "even if doing so resulted in higher prices for U.S. consumers."

Most Americans don't think about Canada at all.
I didn't know that and I'm pretty well in touch with things. I've never seen a breakdown of where we get foerign sources of petroleum from and how much before. I'd be all for getting more oil from Canada, as much as possible. Last time I checked, no Canadians have committed acts of terrorism against us. And their government is more conservative now, building up their military, and the Canadian people (according to friends my wife and I have there) say very passionately that most Canadians are not as liberal as was reflected in the old liberal government, hence it being thrown out, and that Canada is swaying more conservative, like the U.S. did 12 years ago, just taking some time. Their shifting from socialized health care to privatized health care is an indication of that because the people and the government are sick and tired of their broken down non-functional socialist health care system. By all means lets get LOTS more oil from Canada and then drill ANWR. I wish we could get ALL of what we import from them and then that with ANWR would mean the terrorists would have no more American oil dollars to use for their war against us.

It's very interesting that Iraq is our number six supplier. From the MSM, I got the idea their oil industry was barely functioning.

Thanks for posting that. :) Good info to have. If it were up to me, I'd stop all imports from ALL those countries excepy Canada, Iraq, and U.K., maybe Kuwait since we pulled their "bacon" so to speak, from the fire and they're pretty supportive of America. Especailly Mexico I'd stop buying any from them and tell them we'd start buying again when they secure their side of the border and force their citizens to obey our laws. The benefit from illegals sending illegal untaxed dollars back to Mexico is less than our annual purchased of oil per year I'm sure, so that would get their attention. And in addition to that, start immediate drilling in ANWR and shoal drilling, and build three new nuclear power plants, one in CA, one in NY and one in OK, and build at least three new oil refinaries. That would largely solve the problem and make us nearly energy sufficient.
We also get 95% of our hockey highlight tapes (greatest hits, greatest fights, etc) from Canada.
Strangely, we get 100% of our Canadians from Canada.
From the MSM people get the impression that Iraq is barely functioning on any level, and that isn't true at all either. :) Pretty much when watching the MSM, you need to listen to what they say, take away from it that the opposite of what they said is true more likely than not when regarding politics or the war or the economy or social issues, and when there is something glarring they DON'T say, take the conservative side on that and figure that's the truth and that's why the madia didn't touch it. That's how I take the MSM when I watch them, and I do to get all sides, but my BS-meter is very sensitive. I can smell a media fart at 50 clicks with the wind at my back. :)
