WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A U.S. warship has successfully knocked down a short-range missile fired from Hawaii, the Pentagon has said, amid global concerns about a possible North Korea missile test.

An interceptor rocket fired from the cruiser USS Shiloh knocked down the warhead from a target missile about 250 miles off Kauai shortly after noon (6 p.m. ET), the Defense Department's missile defense agency reported on Thursday.

The U.S. missile defense agency said Thursday's test had been scheduled for months and was not prompted by indications that North Korea was planning to test launch a long-range missile, AP reported.

Or those that villified, and still villify Bush, for backing out of that bogus ABM treaty with the Russians...

"What do the Hawaiians want?"

American apartheid, with the Hawaiians as the Boers and everyone else as the "coloreds." Remember the Akaka Bill?

Funny how the people that absolutely SCREAMED about the money spent are suddenly very, very, quiet....

First they screamed that our building an ABM force was a "provocative" act that would likely result in our enemies merely building more missiles/warheads which would therefore decrease our security.

Then they screamed about the cost.

Then they screamed that it wouldn't work.

Bottom line: they like to scream.

060622-N-0000X-001 Pacific Ocean (June 22, 2006) - A Standard Missile Three (SM-3) is launched from the guided missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67) during a joint Missile Defense Agency, U.S. Navy ballistic missile flight test. Two minutes later, the SM-3 intercepted a separating ballistic missile threat target, launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility, Barking Sands, Kauai, Hawaii. The test was the seventh intercept, in eight program flight tests, by the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense. The maritime capability is designed to intercept short to medium-range ballistic missile threats in the midcourse phase of flight. U.S. Navy photo (RELEASED)

And the libs did EVERYTHING in their power to savage President Reagan for spending resources on SDI. That research has led to many of the innovations that are now being put into place.

One more reason to thank God for Reagan and to NEVER trust the quisling party.

More of your tax dollars spent on welfare. Personally I think that giving Hawaii to the Japanese would be a good idea. Let them pay for the welfare kings and queens there. (And while we're at it give New York to Quebec)

I like the fact that we call it the STANDARD missile. Not the deluxe, super, duper, excellent missile. We don't even call it Numero Uno or El Segundo. Just three. Way cool.

Wind it up, aim it in the direction of North Korea and fire!

Don't wait until they launch their "dummy."

No - let's trade it for Okinawa - then we would have a base in the Middle East!

And when the boy came to pick up his date, the girl's father just "happened" to be cleaning his guns.
