MCG'S LOVE NEST (GAY GOV, PAL BUYING $1.5M PAD IN JERSEY)
New York Post ^ | June 22, 2006 | ANGELA DELLI SANTI

Former New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey and his partner are about to become homeowners. The couple is scheduled to close next week on a $1.5 million Colonial in the Union County city of Plainfield, several people close to the couple told The Associated Press yesterday. Those who spoke to the AP did so on the condition of anonymity because the transaction has yet to close.

The home, built in 1914, has eight bedrooms, four bathrooms, five fireplaces, and gardens by famed landscape architect Frederick Olmsted, who designed Central Park.

The nation's first openly gay governor and his investment-adviser partner, Mark O'Donnell, 42, had been shopping for a home in Plainfield for months. They tried to buy a different home in the gay-friendly central Jersey city, but that deal fell through.

The couple's new home, in a historic area of Plainfield, was originally built for a founder of the New York Stock Exchange. It sits on 1.7 acres and is one of a handful of homes in the area insulated with clay tiles designed by Thomas Edison, people close to the couple said.

McGreevey, 48, stunned the nation by revealing himself as "a gay American" in August 2004. He announced his homosexuality and his intent to resign in the same nationally televised speech.

I couldn't help but feel sorry for his wife standing next to him at the press conference where he announced he was gay...

I am betting her first impulse was a very messy divorce - until he 'splained to her that fathers only get screwed in divorce court if their husband's are not famous gay politicians.

I do hope McSleazy has a suitable frame for hanging this pic in the newly-furnished bedroom.

McGreevy and O'Donnell.... these guys remind me of the old joke about the Irish homosexuals Patrick Fitzgerald and Gerald Fitzpatrick. Or the Scots homosexuals, Ben Doon and Phil McAvity....

"Where do these washed up politicians get all this money?"

McGreevey's "partner" is an investment advisor. McGreevey probably fairied him for his money.

She should have fought him tooth and nail for every dime and visitation etc. But, methinks the Dem machine in NJ bought her off to keep quiet and go meekly. She is from a political family herself isn't she?

Eight bedrooms? Sounds like they intend to have kids.

Or adopt.

About a dozen Kennedy women have been made similar offers over time,as has at least one Kerry gal.

Duh.

Can you say offshore banking haven?

The ways to ripoff are many:

McSleazy put about 8000 of his buff buddies on the government payroll (kickbacks).

McSleaze "borrowed" about $2 billion to balance the budget (government fraud).

McSleaze handed out bloated govt contracts to anyone who contributed to his campaign (pay-to-play schemes).

Several billion dollar government funds went bankrupt during McSleaze's abbreviated tenure: the $8B School Construction fund, the UI fund, the transportation fund, The BPU had an unauthorized, secret bank account of $100 million (the BPU chair is married to McGrrevey's campaign coordinator).

Do the math.

The nation's first openly gay governor and his investment-adviser partner, Mark O'Donnell, 42, had been shopping for a home in Plainfield for months.

Aaaaah, the happy couple. This happy story is marred by the fact that - oops! - to clear the way for this happy purchase, the Governor had to dump his unsuspecting wife and child. But shhh, he and Mark are happy now, that's what counts.
