We should begin a grassroots movement to persuade them to try something more reliable as a means of protest. The self immolation of those monks in Vietnam was pretty persuasive if you ask me... or maybe they can try throwing themselves off of a tall building in protest of the war... or chugging a bottle of sleeping pills in protest....personally I think it makes a much more persuasive statement about their struggle.

It sounds totally stupid, but many of these idiots will strike until a specific demand is met. Open ended implies that the striker can end the fast when he feels his objectives have been met ( probably when the fat slob gets hungry enough, or achieves her desired weight loss goal :-) ).
