Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan announced Wednesday that she plans to begin an "open-ended hunger strike" on July 4 to urge the Bush administration to bring troops home from Iraq.
"We hope the fast will galvanize public attention, invigorate the peace movement, build pressure on elected officials, and get our troops back home," Sheehan said in a statement posted on the anti-war blogosphere.
The fast, organized by Code Pink and Sheehan's Gold Star Families for Peace, will begin on Independence Day in Washington, D.C. In her statement Sheehan said she would move the fast to Crawford, Texas, where the president owns a ranch and often vacations.
Sheehan gained national attention in August 2005 when she staged a protest outside the Crawford ranch to protest the war. She named the protest "Camp Casey" in memory of her son, Spc. Casey Sheehan, who was killed in Iraq in 2004.

Well, she needs to lose some weight.
"We hope the fast will galvanize public attention,..."
These peole are clueless. So are the "celebrities" revolving in her orbit.
Her and Saddam are doing their "hunger strikes" at the same time.
may they all starve to death
What is an open ended hunger strike? Sounds nasty!
Is that where she won't eat between meals like Rev. Jackson did some years ago?
By all means, let the hunger strike begin.
And no cheatin' Mizz Cindy!!!
No cheatin' all you left-wing wacko "celebrities"!!!
Don't eat a morsel until ALL U.S. troops have been brought home from ALL around the world! Each and EVERY last one of 'em!
(heh! heh!)
How does Cindy feel about the US Soldier who just reenlisted for 6 years in the Hospital? He was shot through both his Forearms and was in the ICU unit. Yes you read that correctly.

Injuries Don't Deter Soldier's Committment

Caldwell was on patrol with his platoon when they surprised a group of terrorists preparing to attack a nearby check point. The Soldiers came under intense automatic weapons fire from both sides of the road at ranges as close as five meters.
As the senior scout, Caldwell proceeded in re-directing his Soldiers to engaging the source of the fire. During the battle, Caldwell was shot through both forearms. He continued to fight through the ambush as the platoon maintained suppressing fire, destroying many of the enemy forces, and allowing Caldwell to be evacuated to FOB Falcon.
Later in the day, after he was transported by air to the 10th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad, Lt. Col. James Love, commander, 1-10 Cav, Capt. Jon Bodenhamer, commander, Troop A, and members of his platoon visited Caldwell following surgery. Though groggy from the anesthesia, like all good scouts, he remained alert.
After relating the experience to Love, Caldwell simply said, Sir, I was supposed to re-enlist today. I want to re-enlist before I leave....
Any bets she could be on this "hunger strike" for 2 weeks and not lose an ounce? Probably be a lot of sad faced camera shots during the day and cheesburger feasts at night.
She and her celebs should go to Iraq and fast in the 115 degree sun, they'll die quicker that way!
Is Michael Moore going to be joining her?
I hope they see the hunger strike to its logical conclusion.
Good. Maybe we can get rid of a bunch of Liberals all at once. Kinda of a tough way to go at first, but I hear it's euphoric at the end.
That would certainly make the hunger strike last longer. Mikey is definitely packin' some reserve..

I think it means the "celebrities" have their meals catered in their air-conditioned trailers, while having their makeup & hair done, before going out and standing arm-in-arm with Mama Moonbat for the five minute photo-op. |
