BAGHDAD, June 19 (Reuters) - The U.S. military said on Monday three U.S. soldiers had been charged in the deaths of three male prisoners on May 9.

It said the soldiers faced charges including "murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, communicating a threat, and obstructing justice". It was not clear whether all three faced the murder charge.

"Three members of 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division have been charged in connection with the deaths of three male detainees," the U.S. military said in a statement.

I'd be careful with an al-reuters story.

I'd say CNN picked it up, but that's not much better.

I wonder if Reuters felt so bad last week ,with all the bad news for the Dims, that they felt the need to brighten the Dim's spirits?

I don't get all the press bashing.

"The U.S. military said . . . "

The lead seems pretty clear to me.

It should at least be said that, if this is true, it wasn't the press that charged them with murder. Oh... they might (probably) be convicted in the press. But it wasn't the press that charged them.

Crap. Well, we know of other Marines and soldiers charged and later found guilty so we'll pray for that.

"The request for an investigation is the result of Soldiers’ reported suspicions about the deaths. "

An investigation is a major difference from being charged, no?
