"PRAY HARD FOR A SHIELD OF PROTECTION AROUND THESE TROOPS.May they be found safe!"

I am. Spread the word to other prayer warriors. I fear for them.

There is power in prayer.

Take a pill. No one has been more supportive of our liberation of Iraq and the troops who carried it out than me. But knowing Al Qaeda was gunning for revenge for Zarqawi, it was just stupid of us to have posted 3 soldiers with no other close by support at a checkpoint. And YES WE DO KNOW THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED. So don't scream at me just for pointing out the obvious. Our military has done a fine job in Iraq but some commander was NOT thinking when he posted these 3 men like that. It was sloppy, whether you want to admit it or not. Now grow up and stop replying with ugly bile like "shut the hell up" because you're not bright enough to reply calmly or with substance.

And I pray they won't be. But if these men are not rescued fast, what do you think Al Qaeda is going to do with them? Throw them a tea party? I'm sorry, but I'm preparing for the worst here. I'm afraid I just can't find anything uplifting to say about 2 soldiers being kidnapped. I thought we were smart enough not to only allow a small group of soldiers to be out like this without a support force. I guess I was wrong.

Bud - Go read your post - You wrote hysterical nonsense that all our efforts of late will be for nothing - That the anti-war crowd and their fervor will go through the roof...blah, blah, cry the sky is falling BS!

And don't tell me about what we know! - All of what we know has NOT been reported yet through the press - This is called OPSEC when something of this type of situation happens.

We don't know all the facts regarding an incident like haditha (months after the fact) but you want to sillyly assume all the facts of the situation regarding this checkpoint are known and out now? - Foolishness beyond belief!

sorry Army guys, but in this type of theater they should be cooks and leave the fighting to the Marines

What a disgusting statement. In times like this why is it people like you who have to make these kinds of comments? It doesn't matter if they are Army soldiers, Marines, Airmen, or Sailors. They are our brothers and they are in harms way. Instead of tearing them down why don't you pray for them....

Oh, you think the media and their Democratic allies won't use this to whip up anti-war fervor even further than they already have and to recover from the bad weeks of good news they've had for our war efforts in Iraq??? THE ANTI-WAR CROWD CONTROLS THE MEDIA!!! Wake the hell up!! They will play this for everything it's worth.

But yeah, keep up the denial because you can't admit some commander screwed up unnessarily risking the lives of soldiers like this. Yes, it's a war and bad things happen and I accept that. I've accepted that for 3 years now and 2500 killed in being one of the most vocal proponents of the liberation effort in Iraq both of FR and elsewhere. I have stood by the militarily ENTIRELY through Abu Ghirab and Haditha. And I will contine to stand by them and the mission come what may. But this was just STUPID to post only 3 men at a checkpoint and leave them vulnerable to kidnapping. How is it I could see this coming and some commander somewhere couldn't?? We cannot be frivilous with the lives of our men and excuse it all by saying "Oh it's a war and bad things happen." Sorry, I accept that but I DO NOT ACCEPT playing fast and loose with their men's lives through stupid decision-making.

So again, don't scream at me because you can't accept reality. I take a back seat to no one in my support for the military and the liberation effort in Iraq. But when I see stupid I'm going to call it for what it is. And the bigger consideration is the possible terrible butchery of these men we are all soon likely to witness in our living rooms for weeks on end. But also is at stake is a total collapse in support for the war effort which will make it impossinle to carry on, and all at a time finally things were beginning to go our way again. Maybe you can remain blase about that, but I can't. This is a disaster in the making, perhaps the worst we've suffered in Iraq and all because someone wasn't thinking.

Now stop screaming at me like a ranting loon and pray your heart out we find these men.

I totally agree, the ARMY does not ever seem to learn like the Marines, they are totally unequipped for this type of warfare, sorry Army guys, but in this type of theater they should be cooks and leave the fighting to the Marines

As an old Navy man I've got to say, "Shut your pie hole." The Army has fought extremely well. Your comments are a cheap shot in the face of a hell of a lot of honorable and skilled soldiers.

No, but I suspect that there is a special place in hell for them.

I just think it is a little soon to jump to conclusions on what the circumstances of their disappearance were. They could have been killed on the spot and their bodies taken away for all we know.

You are a fool and you don't have an F'ing clue what you are talking about - Keep suggesting what you think you know and in several days your as$ will be shown to everyone (when all the facts come out).

You know nothing of operating in Iraq. You know nothing regarding how many men were originally at this checkpoint and what occurrences took place leading up to what happened.

You cry and whine the sky is falling when it most certainly isn't. What we have accomplished in Iraq (and Stan) is utterly historic. Tragic losses of soldiers lives (if that is what this situation ends up to be) will have no impact on the outcome of this WOT...nor will it change the resolve of the American public.

I don't care what the MSM does - It cannot change the reality of our success. It could not change the election outcome of 2000, 2002 or 2004. The anti-war crowd you speak of is pathetic...and pathetically weak. They have no numbers.

And don't tell me you stood by our military during Abu Ghirab (big of you) and or Haditha (when you don't even know all the facts of that situation yet)...again, very big of you.

My time is too valuable to waste on you - Keep screaming the sky is falling and keep touting your own military armchair intellect regarding a situation in which you know absolutely nothing about.

Glad your weak-kneed as$ has been state side throughout this war.

NY Times now reports that the soldiers were captured by masked men.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That brings to mind my recommended ROE:
Any male in public with his face covered is to be shot on sight.
IMO, that rule should apply to islamist demonstrations anywhere in the world, as well as in our combat zones.
Self-designating targets...
"I wouldn't want to be a resident in one of those nearby towns right now."
I sure wish someone could tell the New York Slimes and its lackey, General Murtha, that what we're about to do to the area surrounding this abduction will make your stories about Haditha look like a description of Disney Land. If you don't like it, run off at the mouth and see who's in the mood besides the usual communist sympathizers. And see if we care.
According to the DOD report, the checkpoint where the one guard was killed, God rest his soul, and the other two were kidnapped was close enough for other troops who responded to hear the gunfire and commotion, so it's not as though they were situated out in a desolate spot as you seem to imply.
Regardless of the facts as we have them at present, it's senseless to sit here at home just speculating and bickering. The energy this consumes would be better spent in prayer for the safe return of our two missing soldiers. There'll be plenty of time to dissect and bicker about what happened when they are found and return to their loved ones and the monsters who have them are punished and on the receiving end of what they deserve.
Calm yourself Grasshopper
I don't think the fellow is a fifth columnist just silly.
The Islamicists that grabbed our guys are unlikely to kill them quickly or torture them if they have a brain in their head. Their best bet is to trade them for money and a ticket out. They know bad will go to worse if they do anything else. They also know the best way to insure the Bush Right Wing in the US stays in power would be to torture the GIs. That doing so would crush any hope of effecting the US elections or US public opinion in their favor. If they exicute them now after the loss of Zarcawi the Arab world will think, Is this the best they can do? and percive them as weak. I think they are more intelligent than that and will want to negotiate their way out of Iraq to fight another day.
