NRA backs Cannon in GOP primary
PROVO The National Rifle Association is endorsing Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, in the Republican primary on June 27.
The NRA Political Victory Fund has given Cannon an "A plus" rating and called him a strong and consistent supporter of the Second Amendment.
Cannon helped pass the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act as a member of the House Judiciary Committee and chairman of the Commercial and Administrative Law Subcommittee.
Cannon also co-sponsored legislation to overturn the ban on gun ownership by residents of the District of Columbia and supported legislation allowing American citizens licensed to carry firearms in one state to do so throughout the country.
Cannon is seeking a sixth term as Utah's representative from the 3rd Congressional District. He is being challenged in the Republican primary by John Jacob.
With "friends" like tancredo and bay buchanan who needs enemies.
And the NRA wonders why I won't rejoin....
Agreed -- Tancredo has lost me with him forever with his action involving this race - He is nothing but a one-issue loser and is clearly starting to love the fame associated with being such more then he is anything else.
Cannon is a maggot ... kick him to the curb
"Cannon is a maggot ... kick him to the curb"
Wo Wo Wo, wait a minute. I don't know a thing about this guy (and probably a lot of other Freepers don't either).
Explain why he is bad. If he is a supporter of our Second Amendment ... thats good. What is it that is so bad about him?

Guess it's too much to ask that a conservative be for the 2nd Amendment and against Amnesty for 12-30 million illegals.
/sarc off.
Jacobs would be just as conservative all the way round with one important exception: he wouldn't pee on your leg and tell you it's raining like Cannon does when it comes to illegal immigration.
Cannon's radio ads are incredible. The man has been a one-man border destroying machine for years, but to hear his ads he's not only trying to close the borders, he's the hero of the hour, the illegal immigrant's worst nightmare.
open borders shill..... that's what he is
Yes, it is simply unforgiveable to suppose anyone would desire a Congressman that wasn't only conservative on gun rights, but on the border.
Here's the deal. The NRA knows what it has with Cannon, so they back him. Because for them the ONLY thing that matters is how someone votes on the 2A. That's the sole reason they exist. To protect their rights guarenteed by that amendment. It's no different then a pro-life group, or Club for Growth (primarily centered on tax cuts, less spending and less government) when they hand out endorsements. They don't necessarily care where they stand on anything else, only the issue that is reason for their existence. That is how it works, and I have no problem with it.
This is no reflection on Jacobs, though, if you mean to imply otherwise. They'll always choose the solid record for the NRA over a challenger. Without regard to PARTY. They HAVE endorsed Democrats too.
And I'm still contributing to the candidate that will enforce the border. Jacobs. I see no reason to settle for someone that is conservative in some areas, but not on something that ranks with WOT/Judges in my book.
I'm shaken my head that you think your unsourced hyperbole is believable.
Face it the NRA has endorsed a good conservative, Chris Cannon, and your unsourced hyperbole is not going to change that.
I can't explain some things that happen in Utah.
you are for him, that's enough for quite a few folks to be against him.
The NRA has an advisor who is Muslim and open borders. Some of wish to have the United States of America in 5 years instead of Canamexistan.
Go ahead spend all of your money.
If true I want him to lose. I can always keep my guns but I cant get the government to stop the illegal horde.
Tancredo has a better lifetime rating from the ACU.
How much are they paying you for your full time advocacy?
Not enough to do at the SPP and Bilderburg meetings?

How much tin foil are you currently wrapped in.
