That's true enough. I know a guy (owns a small painting company) who played bar league softball on our team last year.
'Cowboy George' and man what a very talented singer. He has four guys working for him, and once or twice a year (when he has a few dollars) he heads for Nashville to record a demo of one of his own songs. Never got the big break, but he is very popular locally, is well liked and he gets plenty of entertainment jobs.
I wish him well, he may never or probably will never get the 'big break' but he's happy singing and being who he is.
And Cowboy George is a character.

One of the things I've always found so appealing about Ian Tyson (the legendary Canadian country singer) has been his adamant refusal to market his music through a major record label. His record deal is with a small outfit called Vanguard or something like that.
He said in an interview a few years ago that his music is aimed at an audience of hundreds ("those few people out there who are real cowboys"), not millions.

Perhaps he needs to record some live performances and assemble an album from them.
