Panel: Churchill should be fired
Denver Post ^ | June 13, 2006 | Dan Elliott

Ward Churchill, the professor who called some of the World Trade Center victims “little Eichmanns,” should be fired because of “repeated and deliberate” infractions of scholarship rules, a University of Colorado committee said today.

The recommendation, which came on a 6-3 vote, now goes to university officials for a final decision.

Getting him on "infractions of scholarship rules"?? Sort of like getting him for tax evasion??

Nope. For an academic, you can hold whatever moonbat position you want, and essentially no one cares. However, there is one and ONLY one unforgivable sin in academia, and that's plagiarism (in any of its various forms.) Academic types live and die by their publications, so plagiarism literally takes money from their pockets.

I predicted last year that if anything happened to Ward Churchill, it would be because of his plagiarism, not due to his opinions.

All the people on FR who criticized Ann are not real Conservatives. They're the mushing middle types like we have in Ohio and they make me sick.

Major sin. Absolutely.

"What is good for the goose is good for the gander" -- can't have the students doing the same.

If the prof can do it then why can't the students.

I realize he's wrong, and I know of several arguments that could defeat his position in 30 seconds. But none are ever used, and if the political arena were judge by an impartial observer, Churchill has won.

It's not as if college students are completely naive (though this is becoming the case with the state of the high school system), unable to think an argument through. I have not had one conservative professor. I became a conservative (well, more of a Christian libertarian) completely on my own volition. I noticed that the system savaged capitalism and success in general, which appeared illogical, so I read DiLorenzo's book How Capitalism Saved America (best layman's defense of capitalism out there). I am now 100% sure that I will always be a pure capitalist. Isn't it better for students to learn the truth this way than to protect them from the more powerful liberal arguments until adulthood?

Churchill represents the intellectual wing of the anti-American filth. If students can absorb his reasoning without being swayed, they will be much more ideologically strong.

That was the initial report. This is the followup to that report. (And there's still one more vote to go.)

Man! When I first read the topic I thought the Dems were still complaining about Great Britains participation in WWII.

Don't be surprised if they go against the committee's recommendations.

>>He won't have to. He'll sue the school, and the Colorado taxpayers will have to pay.

This is such a high-profile case that I guarantee you that procedurally every "T" was crossed and every "I" dotted. CU knows that the probability of litigation and negative publicity is very high in this case, so they will proceed with extreme caution. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that a representative of CU's legal counsel was present at every meeting of the committee.

Churchill won't win the lottery with a lawsuit. Filing a lawsuit is most likely nothing more than a bargaining chip to get the best possible settlement. Some small settlement will be negotiated and CU will pay a year's salary or something like that to make this garbage go away. He won't win a mountain of money but will get something like a reasonable "severance" package, which is far more than he deserves.

"Professor Churchill has consistently failed to respond to critiques of his work—whether they occurred in the form of published essays, the Inquiry subcommittee’s questions, or the Investigative Committee’s questions and report—with any acknowledgement that his practices violate standard norms.

We are drawn to the irresistible conclusion that Professor Churchill is unable, or at least unwilling, to acknowledge legitimate critique.

If he is unwilling to acknowledge the critiques, we are pessimistic that he is likely to change his behavior."

I am a grad of CU and the reason for the delay was the old president Elizabeth Hoffman. She spoke at my graduation in 2005 and was boo'ed. I am not just talking boo'ed either no one could hear ANY of her speech it was a constant througout her talk. It was quite incredible considering how flamingly liberal the school/town of boulder is. She is just as much of a disgrace as Churchill. She condoned his behavior and stood in the way of him being brought to justice. Among other things she mishandled the "rape" "allegations" directed towards the

FYI She was subsequently canned

I hope your right. But I wonder, since Churchill "is" a Native American. Time will tell.

He should have been fired the moment he uttered his Eichmann comment.

But at least he has destroyed the name of the so-called "university" that made him a DEPARTMENT HEAD.

I'm really surprised he has all of his teeth and appendages after that remark.
