I can't imagine why, given the pathetic HEALTH CARE program they offer.
It's pretty standard.
The statistic that so many Wal-Mart employees receive public health benefits is a half-truth: it is standard for employees to go through a probationary period before receiving full benefits. Since Wal-Mart is the largest employer in many states, it is only logical that they would also have the most employees on probation.
You prefer half-truths, don't you?
You're right, if this is the job that people want to work as a lifetime job. However, if you look at it as a stepping stone for something more, ie, time to work on a degree, a job as a teenager, an additional income, or a retiree wanting to get out of the house, it's great. I think people are missing the big picture here. Wal-Mart isn't a career- take care of your family kind of job, and those who look at it that way are near-sighted. It's a low-paying job because it doesn't require a large amount of skill.
I smell a tad of sarcasm?
8000 people decided that what WM offered was better than what they currently had, so 8000 people say to hell with you and your liberal opinion. Tell me do you think minimum wages are a good thing too?

Pray, tell your details, please.

Some of us have our own or are on social security
Yeah, the old "health care" canard. What I would like to know is the health plan that those much balleyhooed "Mom and Pop" shops are offering up. With all the bellyaching and yip-yapping about how the big evil Wal-Mart is driving the mom-and-pop shops out of business, you'd think the mom-and-pops are paying their employees $80,000 a year to stock shelves with full benefits, stock options and company cars.
