Are you surprised that terrorists appear to have set their sights on such unlikely targets as the Parliament building in Ottawa and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. in Toronto? Astonished that anyone would even consider sawing off the head of a Canadian Prime Minister? Are you thinking: What could anyone have against free, democratic, liberal, multicultural, diverse and tolerant Canada?
The question answers itself. Freedom, democracy, liberalism, multiculturalism, diversity and tolerance – these are precisely the attributes that Militant Islamists find most offensive.
This reality is difficult for some people to fathom. It shouldn't be. The Nazis disdained liberal societies as decadent. The Communists rejected democratic values as bourgeois. Now Militant Islamists regard Western nations as blasphemous. This is old totalitarian wine in new bottles.

If it weren't Afghanistan, it would be something else. Jihad does not need a specific causes--it's a Nature and the commandement of Jihad to spread Islam round the world through force or political means.

If you want to know how to deal with the terrorists you have to talk to the Jews who will tell you any sign of weakness is signing your own death warrant when it comes to living in a world with Muslim terrorists.
Especially now because the Terrorists are so desperate that they are looking to strike at any juicy target they can possibly get their fingers on and when you are a Terrorist in Canada then you are living in a target rich environment.
I would think that simply being CANADIANS, and all the touchy-feely-namby-pamby-Kumbaya chest-beating that goes along with that, is cause enough.
Cnandians, by and large, are very nice, sensible people, who believe that because they go out on a limb to help the poor and disadvantaged of this world, that they should be loved. Americans and Europeans often make the same mistake.
They are genuinely surprised when they get ingratitude and threats to their physical well-being in return. The reflex action is to bend over even further backwards to "understand" or "show more sensitivity" when confronted with by vioent reaction to "good deeds".
Instead, what happens is that human nature takes over: the more you do for people (and expct to be patted on the back and recognized for it) the more they resent you for it,especially when it's a bordering-on-genetic reflex on the part of the recipients to hate you , not for what you've done, but for who you are.
Until Canada gets a collective spine (sans the Princess Pat's in Afghnaistan), and starts practicing "tough love" (with bombs and bullets) you can expect more of the same.

Islam has no preference about which 'infidels' they kill. These were muslims who just happened to live in Canada so their target was 'convenient' in their view. It just so happens that liberals think they can live in peace with muslims, and Canada is extremely liberal, so they will be dealing with the terrors of islam for years to come.
I've heard that Canada has allowed a certain amount of shari-a law to take place in certain islamic communities. Big, big mistake, because this allows the demon to take a strong foothold.
