If we want to foil attacks, it's critical to allow the government the basic tools to discover such plots.

U.S liberals want to ban the NSA from conducting this type of eavesdropping. They would rather we be dead so they can feel good about protecting civil liberties. What's forgotten is the most basic civil liberty is the right to life. You can't exercise the rest of them when you're dead. Let's remember that the next time you hear the Left attack our intelligence agencies for trying to keep us safe from the variety of hostile threats we face.

No way! Their rights have been violated by the evil Harper's domestic spying program.

I think first western societies have to recognize they are in a war against Islamo-fascists.

Second, when Islamo-fascists are caught, this should not be treated as a crime or police matter. They are traitors or infiltrating spies and should be promptly executed.

According to the Los Angeles Times, U.S. authorities were also watching the two Americans, and at some point discovered communications between the men in Canada and Atlanta and other suspected terrorists overseas, including a group arrested in London last fall

Bush's fault!

Well Hells Bells these guys are so dumb.

Don't they know that by coming South across the border that in a few months these terrorist could, with the help of Kennedy and McCain and lots of fake documents be on the track to citizenship.

But I guess we already have plenty of Religion Of Piece illegal aliens waiting to fake their documents and get on the road to full citizenship and then blow up a few buildings or airplanes on their own.

Although police haven't officially said so, sources have told the Star's Michelle Shephard that the final act in the multi-year investigation came when federal agents intercepted the group's order for the fertilizer, and arranged to have it delivered by truck.

But, the Star has learned, police switched the fertilizer with a harmless powder before making the delivery.

After the deal was done, the handcuffs came out. At around the same time an elite team led by the RCMP's anti-terrorism task force, comprising federal agents and police officers from forces including Toronto, York, Durham and Peel, began swooping down on locations in Mississauga and Toronto.

These scumbags lived in apartments in Toronto/Mississauga - I'd like to know where they were going to deliver 3 tons of fertilizer? Not to mention, not being farmers - kinda sets a red flag one would think.

This is why we have to lock the borders to people from certain middle eastern countries.
And perhaps why our politicians won't lock the borders.

At some point, we need to level the radical mosques they are attending, and deal with the imams.

At some point, we need to deal with the source: Saudi Arabia. The philosophy of jihad and the money to implement it come from the Wahhabi fanatics there. Go to MEMRI and watch the videos of the islamic preachers sometime. Nothing but death is going to stop these people.

My personal bottom-line sense on the whole thing, is that either we are successful in injecting Western memes like representative republican government and personal freedoms into the Middle East via Iraq, as a method of fighting Islam ideologically ("the MTV bomb", if you will) or we might as well cut to the chase and nuke Mecca and get it over with. Jihad is integral to Islam, not just the Wahhabi's version of it.
