Today President Bush met with members of the American Society of the Italian Legions of Merit in the Oval Office on Italian Independence Day. The society representatives visited President Bush to present a Medal of Honor commemorating the 40th anniversary of their organization. The same medal was also presented Italian President Carlo Ciampi in November. The President also met with Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong of Singapore in the Oval Office as well as hosting the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers at the White House and held a swearing in ceremony of Rob Portman as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Rose Garden.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: THE PRESIDENT: " I want to congratulate all the coaches and the folks who make the franchise run. I particularly want to say something about those in the training room and those who pick up the laundry. Those are the folks that generally don't get a lot of credit, but I know the players will give you credit, and I know the ownership gives you credit, and I know Bill Cowher gives you credit. He is a -- he's an amazing coach. He's got the most unusual expressions on the sideline. (Laughter.) So I told the Vice President I was going to be able to congratulate Coach Cowher in person, and he said, "Well, get him to give me some tips on his scowl."
