FORT MEADE, Md.
A military jury on Friday sentenced Army dog handler Sgt. Santos A. Cardona to 90 days hard labor without confinement, and a reduction in rank. Santos was convicted Thursday of dereliction of duty and aggravated assault for allowing his Belgian shepherd to bark within inches of a prisoner's face.
He faced a maximum penalty of 3 1/2 years in prison, a dishonorable discharge and forfeiture of all pay and allowances.

Santos was convicted Thursday of dereliction of duty and aggravated assault for allowing his Belgian shepherd to bark within inches of a prisoner's face. Let me get this straight. We were attacked on 9-11, by ruthless terrorists who thought nothing of killing upwards of 3000 innocent people. Our guys are on the frontlines in the war on terror in Iraq, trying to get information from these ruthless terrorists to protect our country, and THIS is how we reward them??
This is insane. I pray the admin isn't caving into the MSM and the Libs by sacrificing our warriors to satisfy their contempt for the military..

All this crap does is make a recruiter's job harder.

Seems to me Sgt. Cardona actually kept his dog from biting that terrorist.
Pitiful.
I do wonder if recruitment levels will drop because of all the crap the media and liberals are throwing out there.

A few more cities vaporized by terrorists and the Libs might, just might, begin to catch on. They tend to be slow learners.

I would have given him a medal. He broke the rules, and that can't be allowed. Obviously the Army didn't think his actions were too severe though, as his punishment is only a bit harsher than that of an Article 15.

You're right. My response was instinctive, not intelligent. I read in the article that his attorney said the sentence was "close to" an aquittal, since the penalties could have been much higher.

A few more cities vaporized by terrorists and the Libs might, just might, begin to catch on. They tend to be slow learners. It would be a heavy, and seemingly needless price to pay, but a few more major terrorist attacks on US soil and the lib-leninists would be marginalized and sidelined for the duration. It could be what ends up saving the Republic.

THAT'S what he was accused of??? Letting his dog bark too close to a prisoner's face???
Oh my God, this is just getting ridiculous. These are people who saw off other people's heads and put it on the internet like it's porn!! These are people who stone women to death or order them gang-raped! This is nuts.

I suppose it's just a few hours each evening after work, and he'll have to buff floors or something. I got that once. Missed ship's movement (oops).

"This is nuts."
It pisses me off. These guys were being agressive and going after the information. They probably saved other soldiers lives through the information they obtained.
These guys and gals are victims of friendly fire. I like the pardon idea. Time for a letter to Bush.
