(Full Story)

In recent weeks, media reports from both Iraq and Afghanistan have suggested the appearance of a slow evolution of the Islamist insurgents' tactics in the direction of the battlefield deployment of larger mujahideen units that attack "harder" facilities.

These attacks are not replacing small-unit attacks, ambushes, kidnappings, assassinations and suicide bombings in either country, but rather seem to be initial and tentative forays toward another stage of fighting.

I'm hearing reports now that it was al Qaeda that gave up Zarqawi. If true, they got Massoud out of the picture and now Zarqawi. To what end? A coincidence?

Massoud was killed because he was leading the Northern Alliance against AQ/Taliban in Afghanistan and was the only major opposition force left in the country. It was this same Northern Alliance that our Special Forces teamed up with (supported by our air power) to eventually sweep AQ/Taliban out of power.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A Canadian released from Guantanamo Bay has admitted he is a member of al-Qaeda - and so are most of his family.

Abdurahman Khadr said he had been "raised to become a suicide bomber" by his father, who was killed in a Pakistani military operation last year.

He said he grew up in Afghanistan and played with the children of al-Qaeda fugitive leader Osama Bin Laden.

Khadr was released after agreeing to co-operate with US authorities, but his brother is still in the Cuba base."

Where have you heard that? I must admit, I haven't turned on the news once since the story broke. I have read quite a bit, from people at work, and the general media, but haven't heard that myself.

If authorities don't keep this man incarcerated, one day he'll figure a way to do it. Terror is global and terror is ongoing (24/7). Those who tie the hands of authorities from tracking these people are signing death warrants for future terrorism victims.
