Soldier Ride 2006 - America Still Remembers
Wounded Warrior Project ^ | May 31,2006 | news release

Fellow Freepers,

I just had a fellow freeper freepmail me about the low turnout for the soldier ride through Chattanooga TN.

Please go out and support these men/women who have sacrificed so much for us. Just to be there along the ride route, to show support, means so much.

Below I have pasted the ride schedule. For those interested in organizing groups to go out and greet the vets on the cycle route, freepmail me and I'll provide the routes.

Soldier Ride 2006 - America Still Remembers

Each year Soldier Ride sponsors a cross country cycling event to aid in the rehabilitation of the brave men and women who return home with injuries incurred in the current military conflicts abroad. The theme of our cross country ride this year is “America Still Remembers.”

As the wounded service members participating in our ride cycle from city to city, we aim to show them that the country is still behind those who have sacrificed life or limb in support of our freedom.

Our 2006 cross country ride will stop in over 70 cities throughout the heartland of America. The ride began on May 6th in Montauk, NY and will end on July 29th in San Diego, CA. Over 75 of our wounded warriors will participate in this year’s ride, cycling a combined distance of over 3000 miles. We are now in the fourth segment of our ride which goes from Augusta, GA to Nashville, TN.

Stops in this segment of the ride include Augusta, Greensboro, Atlanta, Calhoun, Chattanooga, Hillsboro and Nashville. Read more about the rider's progress ... more »

I know you two are in states where the wounded soldiers will be riding through, so could you ping some on your lists that will be along the route?

I'd appreciate your help.

Also, if you know any freepers I can ping can you let me know?

Thanks

Hi,

Can you all send this to some on your ping lists? We need to get some folks out to show support to these brave young men and women that have sacrificed so much for us.

Thanks CSM, I don't have any ping lists, but found you and some other freepers on another thread about the troops and thought you'd all be interested in this.

One of the young men on the tour I know. He had both legs blown off by an IED in Iraq. He is home now, is in his early 20s, with two young kids.

These IEDs are taking a heavy toll and we have these young people coming home facing some heavy challenges.

I'd love to see the public come out in force on this tour to show these men and women we appreciate their sacrifice.

No problem, I know many folks who are supportive of the troops and we do need to let them know how much support they really have. I'm in Michigan, so I probably won't be able to make it to any of the events, but my thoughts will be there.
