Security tight for "Satanist" date (Norway)

All across Norway precautions are being mounted to prevent churches being torched on June 6, 2006 - 06.06.06.

The Church Employer and Interest Organization (KA) has decided upon a safety first approach, and warned all responsible for Norwegian churches to be on guard on the day.

"We do not wish to contribute to increased attention on this matter, but to signal a potential risk," KA division leader Øystein Dahle told newspaper Vårt Land.

Dahle said he would have preferred to ignore the date, but must recognize that certain circles are fascinated by the date, and the association with the number 666 linked to the devil. The KA has asked for vigilance around churches and graveyards on the date.

Garbage cans, rubbish and other inflammable material should be moved away from buildings, and combustible vegetation should also be removed. Firefighting equipment and alarms should be tested, and doors and windows locked.

The KA also advises that floodlighting be turned on at night, and asked that local police and fire departments be contacted to draft local precautionary measures.

On the 6th of june 1992 norwegian satanists, among them probably the "famous" death/black-metal musician Varg Vikernes, burned Fantoft Stavkirke, a stave church in Bergen built 1150 A.D, to the ground. A replica of the church was later built and finished in 1997.

Vikernes, who now states he is a neo-nazi and says he believes in Odin, is currently serving 21 years prison-time for the murder of "Euronymous" a friend and member of the black metal band "Mayhem", in addition to the burning of three churches. A fireman lost his life in one of the fires. Vikernes was althoug not convicted for the burning of Fantoft Stave Church. He managed to escape from a low-security prison in october 2003, but was quickly arrested carrying an AG-3 automatic rifle, 700 rounds of ammunition and various military equipment.

And if Vikernes had studied the Hávamál, he'd have realized that Odin would whup his white-power tail for burning someone else's house, especially where he would have been welcomed.
