Sounds like she has "stage parents".

Her parent are REALLY nice people. The just have a different cultural perspective than most of us.

The Indian folks will rule the spelling bee for years to come because they place so much importance on it.

I mentioned above that my son represented Colorado last year through the Rocky Mountain News. The "Rocky" only allows their winner to compete once at the National level, unlike most sponsors that send kids multiple times.

We actually had Indian parents coming up to us in Washington, D.C. last year asking where we were going to move so that our son could compete at the National level again. We had to explain to them that we were fine with just competing once, and looked forward to experiencing life in other areas. The Indian parents could not understand this...

The Indians and we who care about spelling are a dying minority.
