McGuinness rubbishes media 'British spy' claims

Sinn Féin MP Martin McGuinness has rubbished claims by a number of tabloid newspapers that he is a high-level British spy.

The claims were made on Sunday, but Mr McGuinness said today that he was certain no evidence would ever be produced to support the allegations.

He also accused the Democratic Unionist Party of being in league with the British spy-handler who was allegedly the source of the allegation.

"This is a dirty trick manufactured and constructed by people within the DUP who are now hooked up to others hostile to the [peace] process," he said

Kind of like finding out that Goering was a British spy or that Mohammed Al-Zarqawi is a US spy.

I'll believe it when proven.

Correction:

1) A vote for Mr. Ahern is a vote for the free market, low tax policies that produced Irish prosperity; for the preservation of Eire as a pro-life, pro-family nation; and for furtherance of the dream of Irish unity.

2) Your comment regarding those persons sympathetic to the Sinn Fein party are uncalled for and undignified. You disgrace you heritage and this board.

Bertie Ahern is a Corporatist. He is anti-life and anti-family.

Don't you dare speak to someone who actually lives in Ireland!! Anyone who signs up to a conservative website supporting Sinn Fein/IRA are trolls!! Got that?!??!!?

I'm not a disgrace to my heritage - Sinn Fein/IRA are a disgrace to Irish heritage!!!!!!

I disappear from the board for several weeks, only to return and find you are still being attacked for calling a spade a spade. Keep the tag line. Someday the truth will sink in with others.

As a "person sympathetic to the Sinn Fein" perhaps you can answer this question for me.

What did the Colombians ever do to Ireland that was so grievous that the IRA deemed it necessary to go to Colombia and teach the FARC new and better ways of blowing up civilians?

And why are members of the IRA those pure fighters for the free market doing on Castro's payroll?

Surely there must be some mistake. Surely the pure hearted IRA is not just another communist terror group!

I hope you enjoy paying higher taxes and suffering greater market, business and property regulation under an FG/Labor government. Poverty is character building after all. And, besides, by virtue of your increased abortion and divorce rights, everyone will be having so much fun they'll hardly notice the unemployment and collapsing property markets.

FF is committed to the peaceful achievement of Irish unity, a goal that is thankfully closer due in no small measure to Bertie's efforts. For this alone he deserves support from people of goodwill. In addition, he has consistently supported the pro-growth economic policies in Ireland directly responsible for the country's current prosperity. I have no idea what a Corporatist is, but if Bertie is one than perhaps I am as well. Finally, Ahern and FF have been a bulwark against the creeping secularization of Irish culture that, in the absenece of resistance, will inevitably lead to liberalized abortion rights, access to ready divorce and the complete secularization of the schools. With an FG/Labor government, each of these developments will come to pass, to the glee of the EU establishment.

It is possible to support Irish unity without being a supporter of Sinn Fein/IRA. It also is possible to oppose the provos while prefering that half wits refrain from defaming people who may be sympathetic to them with playground epithets. This is a conservative board that is, or should be, dedicated to fair play and decency. Perhaps you didn't get the memo.

I notice that I never get an answer.

I guess what ever it was was bad enough that blowing up one hundred and nineteen people who were attending church was the only civilized response.

Sure, keep those pesky Blueshirts out of government.

The truth is, we don't have a proper conservative political bloc in this country.

With an FG/Labor government, each of these developments will come to pass, to the glee of the EU establishment.

Irish unity is not an important isssue, Ahern is helping the secular trend because his own marriage broke down, FF have bowed to every EU demand, and thus will eventually legalise abortion.

A corporatist is someone who supports the economic policies of fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. And you seem to hate those pesky Blueshirts!

It is possible to support Irish unity without being a supporter of Sinn Fein/IRA. It also is possible to oppose the provos while preferring that half wits refrain from defaming people who may be sympathetic to them with playground epithets. There is actually a very fine line between supporting Irish unity and supporting the IRA - did you know that very few Irish people could give a s*** for a united Ireland?

And don't lecture me about defamation - you defamed me by calling me a disgrace, just because I have nothing but contempt for IRA apologists.

Anyone who signs up to conservative site sympathizing with a terrorist group that murdered over 1800 people are trolls, and I say trolls because they won't listen to an actual citizen of the Irish Republic.

I am sick to death of being lectured by Plastic Paddies about my own country!!

I guess this is one of the 'foreign leaders' John Kerry claimed he had met:

MARCH 12, 2004 : (BOSTON, MASS : US SENATOR JOHN KERRY MEETS WITH IRA TERRORIST MARTIN MCGUINNESS) [Photo Caption] John Kerry and Martin McGuinness, the IRA's and Sinn Fein's chief in Boston on March 12, 2004. McGuinness was second-in-command in the IRA in Londonderry at the time of Bloody Sunday on 30 January 1972.
He served two prison terms in the Irish Republic, and was denounced by Mr Merlyn Rees - a former Home Secretary - as a terrorist.
'The Observer': He was "widely held to have headed the IRA Londonderry Brigade." ---------AP, 3/13/04, via (Observer 17.4.83).
