The decade-and-a-half assault by one, self-esteem challenged atheist with little more to do than spit on the memory of brave men who gave their lives to defend the freedom the ACLU regularly abuses has resulted in an unprecedented move by the California chapter of the American Legion. The largest veterans organization in the country will announce Thursday a line-in-the-sand campaign to protect veterans memorials from the shameful ACLU assault. Legal muscle is being provided by the Alliance Defense Fund. See the American Legion announcement:

Soledad Veterans Memorial in San Diego to announce initiation of an unprecedented statewide Defense of Veterans Memorials Project of the California Department of The American Legion, including its support of efforts to preserve the Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial.

I was looking to rejoin the Legion anyway, I think I will attach a note with my dues telling them this publicity triggered my sign up.
I think if you went to Roger Hitchcock.com you would find where to donate.....when he sits in for Rush he always talks about this on the program.....

Go after them guys it seems we don't have a member in Washington that gives a hoot what these commies do..The people of California should get behind the American Legion and back them up..It has to start some place and it is time for us to take these commies down..
They tried. A judge blocked it. They put it to a referendum. It was passes overwhelmingly. A judge blocked it. We would have a true constitutional republican democracy if it weren't for the judges.
Michael Medved brought up an interesting point: If an "artist" submerges a cross in a jar of urine or does some other act of desecration to it, he can get a grant from a government-funded agency. A cross that has stood as a memorial for 50 years is still vulnerable to proscription by some branch of government, however.
