At least Republicans have the decency to resign so there's at least one difference between the parties.
Cunningham was under indictment and resigned the day he pleaded guilty. Jefferson hasn't been indicted - yet. So he isn't any better or any worse than Cunningham was.
The difference is that Pubbies will throw out a corrupt official in the next election.
On the other hand, Black Dims can be as crooked as they wanna be and still get re-elected.
It looks like Rep. William Jefferson (D - La.) will also have to be pushed off the cliff rather than resign voluntarily. But the Dems will get him out of there. They can't afford to throw away a seat in Congress. Though when you look at the reelection of Mayor Ray Nagin, maybe Rep. Jefferson is right to hang on, and to believe that his voters are so stupid that he can win again.
P.S. My primary is over, but because of certain legal and ethical problems, the incumbent, Charles Taylor may withdraw/be forced out, and I am in the running to be chosen as the replacement nominee for Congress in the 11th District of NC. For more information, see the article below, and my website. I still need your help.
Congressman Billybob
There is no question there are differences. . .
And to this, we know the Dems SCREAM for Repubs to resign and on this so far, they are fairly quiet. . .another difference. . .
But WHY is the Repub House leadership up in arms because the FBI searched this criminal's Congressional office? They appear to be defending him! Makes them look... well, in cahoots somehow.
