Congressman says Bush needs to stand up to conservatives on immigration
KVOA ^ | 5/21/06

Posted on 05/21/2006 7:21:11 AM PDT by AZRepublican

A California lawmaker is calling on President Bush to take a stand against what he calls "right-wing immigration extremists."

In the Democrats' weekly radio address, Congressman Mike Honda says Bush should denounce House Republicans who support measures that would treat people who sneak across the border as felons who should be deported.

Honda, a third-generation Japanese-American, says the U.S. can't afford to play partisan politics with immigration reform or border security.

He adds that he was disappointed by the president's latest efforts on immigration, which he dismissed as a "public relations campaign."

Guess what Rep. Honda: people who sneak across the border should be deported!

What part of enforcing immigration laws makes someone an "extremist"?????

So, one who wants immigrants to get in line and follow the
laws of our country is an "extremist"? Is there no limit to
the idiocy of Democrats?

Looks like the Dems are no longer sitting on the fence when it comes to immigration.

Mr. Honda just fails to realize that breaking the immigration law IS a felony.

Its been that way for a long, long time, including when the democrats had power and could have changed it.

Kinda sounds like some of the OBL trolls we see on these threads. Right down to the wording.

Makes you wonder where their real allegiance lies. With the GOP, or with the DNC...

"Mike Honda says Bush should denounce House Republicans who support measures that would treat people who sneak across the border as felons who should be deported."

Then what the F is the purpose of any law then? Then why is it called ILLEGAL immigration? By using this mental midget's logic we shouldn't treat murderers as felons either because murder is illegal. What the hell is going on with this country?

Hey Mr Toyota, this is not an IMMIGRATION issue. This is about trespassers who have entered US territory illegally. What part of this is so hard to understand?

I've long suspected the motives of the OBL. After all, they're the ones on the same side as the islamics, marxists, ANSWER, and WWP etc.

Well Mr. Honda, they ARE felons and they should be deported. And the U.S. can play partisan politics because - it's the U.S! So shaddap!

As a third Generation Japanese immigrant, I wonder if there could be some bitterness to the rounding up of Japanese- Americans during WW2 for national security?

I know for many years immigrants from Japan, and other nations on the losing side of WW2 were under very heavy scrutiny before they were allowed to enter America.

Even as recent as just a few years ago a notable guard from I think it was Auschwitz concentration camp was aprehended in Cleveland. so even a few bad eggs slipped thorough even with enhanced scrutiny.

Allowing people to flood our nation illegally without checks and balances is total insanity in the world we live in now. With the computer age background checks should be somewhat easier for people from civilized nations. for people from uncivilized nations, they must be made to wait and the consequences of not waiting must be rendered swiftly and forcefully.

It's "extremist" to a Democrat when you threaten to deport 10 million illegal aliens and deprive them of 10 million future Democrat voters.

Close. Almost as dangerous. Open Borders Lobbyists.

While philosophically, I am in favor of open borders and free trade across those borders, it just isn't a good thing until some BIG changes are made. Such as ending the socialist "safety net" they are currently scamming billions from.

This may have something to do with his liberal ideas besides the fact he is a dem:

"A Japanese American, he was born in Walnut Grove, California and spent his early childhood in an internment camp in Colorado. His family became strawberry sharecroppers in Blossom Valley in San Jose after their return in 1953."

A "lawmaker" who believes laws shouldn't be enforced. 'RAT extremists crack me up. They'll do and say ANYTHING to get elected. Why do they make up laws if they don't want them to be enforced?

The strongest issues Bush and the GOP have are immigration and border security. Unfortunately, they fail to realize it.
