Not that I would expect good scholarship from this bunch, but Onward, Christian Soldiers is a processional, lyrics written in 1864 by Sabine Baring-Gould, a slum priest. The text is based upon Matthew 16:18 -- And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
The enemy is Satan, the banner is Christ, the weapons are the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) and the praises of the Church. The hymn is not about physical combat but spiritual warfare.
Oh, and spoiler -- God wins.
What?? I have no idea what these groups are, so I don't even know if I am one- someone care to enlighten me, since I am pretty sure the OP is gone.

I run with a lot of conservative Christian types, and I'll tell you something you don't know because you, the wonderfully enlightened and civilized one, are apparently too busy dreaming of shooting us to actually talk to any of us: When we talk about politics, we don't picture a utopian Christian society where everybody is a Southern Baptist. We don't even picture an America where you get to worship as you please, but the laws are based on Christian theology.
What do we picture? We picture a nation that is faithful to the Constitution as the Founders wrote it and as the People amended it. That's all. Your vision of "fundies" imposing our will in a theocracy is either the empty paranoia of an intellectual lightweight, or the McCarthyite tactics of a movement desperate to distract people from the utter failure of its policies.
So, there will be no Christian Theocracy in the United States, because we conservative Christians aren't planning on one and if somebody tried to establish one we'd be the first people picking up rifles to defend the Constitution against tyranny.
You fools on the Left began with the belief that Osama bin-Laden and his terror network were far less worrisome than a president with a Bible on his nightstand. Now you've moved on to believing that voters with a Bible on the nightstand are the foremost threat to American democracy. How silly you are, portraying yourselves as brave martyrs for liberty while you call for rampant paranoia.
Paranoia, in fact, is all you have to offer. Offer rejected, lightweight.

Here are a few of additional comments that just didn't flow well with my other post:
1. Listen--you hear that whining sound off in the distance? That's Bobby Kennedy spinning in his grave like a Dremel tool because Robby calls him his "political hero" on his MySpace page, along with his "intellectual hero," Chomsky. I certainly am not a fan of the Kennedys, but Bobby Kennedy loved his country and its people, and Noam Chomsky isn't fit to shine his shoes.
2. Robby, you'll probably take this as an insult no matter how I phrase it even though I have the same problem, but here goes: After looking at your MySpace page, I can tell you that if you're planning on fighting in Civil War II, you'd better lose at least 50 pounds before you go into action. Otherwise you'll be felled by a heart attack long before any Dominionist bullets head your way. Hey, I'm not throwing stones, I'd have to lose at least 30 before I'd be ready for combat myself.
3. I found your comparison to Germany, Japan and the Civil War interesting. Try this comparison on for size:
Civil War: U.S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, William T. Sherman
Germany: Dwight Eisenhower, George Patton, 8th Air Force
Japan: Chet Nimitz, Bull Halsey, Douglas MacArthur, nuclear weapons
Somehow I don't think you guys have another Lee or Nimitz in your pocket. Trust me, Wes Clark won't be enough. Y'all don't even have artillery for that matter.
4. As I said in my previous comment, there will be no right-wing Christian coup in America, but I was just wondering, how did you guys expect to gain air superiority? Are you figuring that the ranks of America's fighter and bomber pilots are rife with Chomskite sympathizers? Somehow I doubt it, and I doubt you guys would have an air force made up of anything more threatening than a couple of college professors in ultralights. Heck, we might be able to use B-52s on you, since all you guys ever get out of military history is more grist for the hate-America mill and you'd probably just form up in some big open space. But even if you weren't quite that stupid, after the Strike Eagles, Warthogs, Hornets and Spectres were done with y'all, we'd be able to collect the remains of your army in sandwich bags.

In allseriousness, these people who hear the President make a couple of references to God in a speeech and wig out remind me of one of Solomon's proverbs: "The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion."
He could be a real danger...if he brings several friends who weigh less than 300 pounds.
I think we might be surprised by who they could field (it's not like they grew Wes Clark and Tony Zinni in vats, there are libs in the armed forces) but they still would be so vastly outnumbered and outclassed. It would be like putting a Unitarian church up against the 1st Marine Division.

Hey, remember this guy? I took the text in reply 206 and posted it as a comment at his blog, but he has moderation enabled and (surprise!) he hasn't allowed it on the site. What a coward, he's a big talker when it comes to shooting unarmed people, but he doesn't have the guts to be crticized by a knuckledragger like me on the web.
