Gov. Doyle: Issues Challenge to NRA 5/17/2006

Contacts: Anne Lupardus, Office of the Governor, 608-261-2162

Up to 50,000 Expected at NRA Annual Meeting in Milwaukee

The National Rifle Association (NRA) will begin its Annual Meeting at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee tomorrow. Between 40,000 and 50,000 people are expected at the event, which runs through Sunday. This morning Governor Doyle made the following statement:

"Wisconsin is always pleased to welcome conventions and visitors to our state, and we will be an excellent host to thousands of people expected at the NRA meeting this week. I'm concerned, however, about the message the NRA is going to deliver tomorrow.

"In Wisconsin, we honor and uphold the right to bear arms. Our great tradition of hunting and responsible gun ownership is part of who we are in this state, and we cherish that tradition.

"At the same time, what concerns the vast majority of Wisconsin families is keeping our kids and our communities safe. We are deeply concerned about the NRA's zealous support of legislation that would allow loaded, hidden guns at playgrounds, shopping malls, and school zones. The overwhelming majority of law enforcement in our state also vigorously opposes this NRA backed plan, fearing it will put our kids, our cops, and our communities at extreme risk.

"As the NRA gathers in Milwaukee, I'm challenging them to rethink their support for a proposal that is so strongly opposed by law enforcement and the vast majority of Wisconsin citizens. Instead of making it legal to carry a concealed weapon into a daycare center, we ought to be focused on ways to help middle class families afford to buy a home and enjoy all the good things life in our state has to offer."

Oh, for the Love of God! What a freakin' LIAR. What a pandering @ss.

Yes. As soon as I get my CC Permit, the FIRST thing I'm going to do is shoot up a daycare center. *Rolleyes* Actually, I don't even WANT a handgun; I'd settle for a tazer or a sock filled with rolled coins to DEFEND myself if I had to, instead of rolling belly up to someone that wants to rob or rape me!!

May I remind Hizzoner that the last violent incident we had at a daycare center in Our Fair City was when a mentally ill lunatic armed with a MACHETE started slicing and dicing the daycare WORKERS that put themselves in the line of defense to protect their charges? Why did it take 5 minutes for the cops to get there while he was hacking away? Couldn't life and limb (literally) have been saved if the Daycare Workers were armed? (The Red Caboose Daycare Center, Madison, WI...you can look it up.)

Does he not know that there are 48 other states, comprising 3 MILLION CC Permit holders and not ONE of them has been arrested for violating their CC obligations and restrictions?

Again, what an @ss!

"we ought to be focused on ways to help middle class families afford to buy a home and enjoy all the good things life in our state has to offer."

Is that in the Second Amendment, too? The right to afford to buy a home? I don't remember seeing that.

I hope the NRA does the same thing to this bozo and his state as they did to - what was it? Cincinnati? - a few years ago, when the City said you can have your convention here, but you can't sell any guns, and the NRA said, "Up yours" and took their convention elsewhere. That would be a lot of money to lose from Milwaukee just because the governor's a dope.

If Wisconsin Govenor Doyle had a brain, he would take it out and play with it. What a pompous, total a$$ this jerk is. He can lie out of both sides of his mouth at the same time and blame you for his lying. Ask him about the travel fiasco he set up through his political cronies. What a P.O.S. this turkey is.

Democrats: enemies of the 2nd Amendment.

I hope all the border activists remember that on election day.

vast majorities my bum. Doyle has taken an unpopular stance on conceal carry and claims to be supported by vast majorities. Who is he trying to kid?

We need to do alot of work here in Wisconsin. We have two liberal senators and a liberal Gov. Our representation is some of the worst, maybe rivaled only by Mass.

At least us Wisconsinites can thank God for Jim Sensenbrenner. The author of the House's immigration bill. From my home district! Plus, remember when he turned the mic's off when Jerry Nadler wanted to babble on in some committee meeting? LOL

Sensenbrenner should run for President.

"What a P.O.S. this turkey is."

And a Lawyer, to boot! He was our Attorney General before he was swept into office via the Libertaran Hack that was the third man in the race.

See? See? We got Clinton on a national level due to Perot. We got Doyle in WI due to Ed Thompson.

If any Freepers are thinking of sitting on their hands in 2006 and 2008, PLEASE consider the damage you'll be doing to your state, our nation and our Constitution by throwing your vote to the Libers or the Dems.

That next to last paragraph is craftily worded, but still adds up to nonsense. He claims that the "vast majority" of "Wisconsin families" are "concerned" about "safety", yadda yadda; but carefully avoids saying a majority actually oppose the NRA proposals (who ever heard of a family that is unconcerned with safety?). Then he claims that the "overwhelming majority" of law enforcement (i.e. the guys who get to carry guns no matter what) "vigorously opposes this NRA backed plan." Obviously if the "vast majority" of "Wisconsin families" opposed the NRA proposals, the Governor wouldn't need to be crusading against it, since it would be voted down by a vast margin. But he IS crusading against it, and he IS avoiding saying that a majority of his constituents oppose it (since he'd quickly get skewered on that claim by the "gun lobby"). GovernmentShrinker concludes that a majority of Wisconsinites are leaning in the NRA's direction, and that the Governor knows this.

The left never stops wanting to take guns away from responsible citizens because they want the whole country unarmed so they can take over and control us. They're afraid of resistance. They live in never never land.

Besides, most of them don't know the butt from the barrel on most guns, not to mention how to load and fire one.

"GovernmentShrinker concludes that a majority of Wisconsinites are leaning in the NRA's direction, and that the Governor knows this."

Our House and Assmebly has passed CC TWICE and Doyle has vetoed it TWICE since he's been in office. We are also leaning toward amending our State Constitution against gay activists and liberal judges who want to foist "Gay Marriage" on us. We're also for bringing back the Death Penalty, which is the other referendum on our ballot this fall.

The libs in this state are in total meltdown. They know the Pubbies are striking back and they. are. scared.

As they should be! Enough is truly enough. :)
