(CBS) SAUK VILLAGE A family speaks out about a student's fear after police question an employee at a south suburban grade school for allegedly taking indecent photos of the boy.
Police in Sauk Village are working with Strassburg Elementary School officials after a student's father identified three inappropriate pictures.
CBS 2's Kristyn Hartman reports a co-worker of the person of interest brought picture evidence forward to police.
The father of the alleged victim said there were signs that something was amiss, mainly when his son's grades had fallen considerably.
On Wednesday, members of the family stood with signs in front of the school at 2002 E. 223rd St., urging any parent who would listen to protect their kids.
"Don't let this crime go unpunished," said one family member.
They took their message to Sauk Village's Strassburg School where they say an employee took nude pictures of a 10-year-old boy.
CBS 2's Kristyn Hartman talked to the boy about why he didn't tell his parents about the incident.
"I was scared," the boy said.
"What were you scared of?" Hartman asked.
"I was scared I was going to get in trouble," the boy said.
"That's how much power and influence this man had over my son's life. And it hurts because it's like he had more influence over my son than me. My son couldn't even tell me, he said he was scared to tell his own father," the boy's father said.
He said he learned something was wrong when officers showed him three photographs of his son.
"Where did this happen? Did it happen at school?" Hartman asked the 10-year-old alleged victim.
"Yeah," he said.
"Where in the school?"
"In his office."
"It happened in his office?"
"Yes," he said.
"Did he shut the door? When did this start?"
"He shut the door and he cut off the lights," the boy said.
Police have confirmed they are investigating evidence tied to the possible sexual exploitation of a minor. The chief said making sure every child is safe is a top priority.
Still, parents are upset and fearful that there could be more victims.
PTA Vice President Tania Respress said her own children have told her things.
Time to bring back the fine art of impalement...
its a shame we have to be afraid of our own kids teachers anymore, a place where they are supposed to be safe from this kind of *%#% for 8 hors out of the day!!!!
This story is horribly written.
So the police has evidence of child pornography, a statement from the co-worker who brought them the pictutes, and the boy's statement. That's isn't enough to arrest someone?!? Do they have to catch the perp in the act?
It appears the perp was the principal (or vice principal). Who else has an office in grade school?
Is this person still working at the school now? Is that why the parents are protesting outside? Unreal.
Public schools are evil.
Is it ever! It's so disjointed it reminded me of one of those cut & paste ransom notes.Very, very odd.
