McCain (R) Not Voting.

ROFLOL! That's one way not to let 'em use your record against you when you run for president!

I have to say I am happy that Isakson proposed this (he's my JR senator)

I'm kinda surprised Brownback voted no.

................" to make allowing illegal immigrants to stay in the United States contingent on first securing borders against new undocumented immigrants. "

That this would even require a vote is telling of just how disturbed our D.C. leadership really are.

"Some time ago I heard of a mental hospital
which had devised an unusual test to determine
when their patients were ready to go back into the
world. They brought any candidates for return into
a room where a water tap was pouring water out
over the floor. They handed the patient a mop and
told him to mop up the water. If the patient had
sense enough to turn off the tap before mopping up
the water, he was ready to go back. But if, as in
the case of many, he took the mop and started
mopping up the water with the tap still flowing,
they knew more treatment was needed."

Anything but a 'yes' vote is a vote for illegals. McCain's record is too long, and too plain for this to make a difference.

Nebraska Hagel (R) No; Nelson (D) Yes.

Nelson is pissing himself over this fall election. Shows some intelligence though, given that Rickets spent more on the primary than Ben(d over) has in his entire warchest.

Go, Rickets.

Wasn't that CNN poll the one that Schneider said was heavily Republican because Dims won't even watch Bush on TV?

I think it's a very weak poll, even by CNN's standards. And I know Dobbs is CNN's breadwinner and we know where he stands on the illegals.

I call bogus poll.

Of course any poll favorable to the president is bogus. No one is the least bit surprised you'd say that.

There's a new poll

Bush Immigration Speech: Half Disappointed, Half impressed

Nation also split whether Bush plan will solve immigration problem; Bush approval - 32%

Overall, 47% said they liked the Monday speech, while 47% said they were disappointed.

I also was surprised Isak. actually "did" something.

Had him for many years as the invisible congresscritter.

Hey, I'm tired of him giving me a bad name.

Maybe you'd like to compare CNN to this other poll from Zogby. I think Zogby reflects all the current politics and the other polls I've seen much better.

And if CNN is so correct, then why didn't more senators vote no on this roll call? I think it's because they have better polls than CNN. But if you prefer to trust that fountain of conservative opinion, CNN, then that's fine with me.

Yet the MSM claims this 79% positive result is mediocre and a "disappointing result"?

The only poll that would be used by conservs and GOPers like myself, would be the one which favored what the BASE wants, and that is FENCE, FENCE, FENCES. If the GOP and the Prez would focus on that first, the GOP would easily win in Nov. But, now we are faced with GOPers in the RINO Senate who will kill any victory possible in Nov. The Prez tried but the Senate Hagel Bill is so evil, so absurd, that only Ted Kennedy could have really conceived it. Unless the Sensebrenner Bill finally wins out the GOP will get slaughterd in Nov. I cannot even fathom, Speaker Pelosi and Chair Conyers. Evil wins if they win. The GOP is just silly but I do not ascribe them as evil;, well maybe the RINO's, LOL.

Bush’s speech came as his job approval rating for dealing with immigration languishes at 17%, and just 16% give him positive marks for his work on border security. A Zogby International telephone poll taken May 12–16 shows just 32% give him positive overall job approval marks.
It shows how weak he is perceived on the illegals problem. This is where his support from the base has dropped the most. Wild spending is bad enough but has been tolerated. But this borders/illegals matter really does hurt him and the GOP.

Interesting, huh? And you should hear the freepers on other threads who think I must be lying. Or CNN is lying. All they know is, a positive poll for the president and someone MUST be lying. LOL
