GOP email: Our immigration system is broken. And we need your help to fix it.
GOP email ^ | 5/16/2006 | Ken Mehlman

Posted on 05/16/2006 10:00:10 AM PDT by Tirian

Dear ______,

Our immigration system is broken. And we need your help to fix it.

In his address to the nation last night, President Bush showed the way to getting real results on this difficult issue. We need your help today to stand up in support of the President's bold plan. Sign the petition and call your Senators and Representatives to demand immediate action on comprehensive immigration reform.

Our nation faces a long-term problem that requires a long-term solution. As the President outlined, America needs real reform that includes: Dramatic increases in manpower and technology at the border A system of controlled, temporary, and legal entry into the United States that meets our economic needs and relieves the pressure of illegal immigration at the border. No amnesty. Holding employers who hire illegal immigrants accountable, with beefed-up ID requirements - no excuses.

Harry Reid and Senate Democrats have played partisan politics and resisted these basic reform principles and have attempted to block border security legislation at every turn. Every day of Reid's obstruction is one more day with a broken system that isn't working.

Sign our petition to demand solutions, not politics. And call your Senators and Representatives to tell them that you support the President's plan for real border security.

America is a nation of laws. We are also a welcoming nation, one that moves forward confidently in the tradition of Ronald Reagan, who called America a "shining city on the hill" with the doors "open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here." There is no contradiction between these American values. Together, we will secure the border and welcome those who wish to come here legally and build a better life.

This is a decisive moment. The time for action on immigration reform is now.

Sincerely, Ken Mehlman Chairman, Republican National Committee

My response to the email was that "no amnesty" but still a clear and easy path to full citizenship for those who have entered illegally does not exactly convey respect for the rule of law, and that the border security plans seem to be too little and at least five years late.

the pubbies have a problem. their choices like those of the people on flight
93 are between certain death and near certain death.

If they allow the illegals citizenship--the illegal/legals will do what they did after 1986: vote democratic and tip the country to a democratic majority as they have done in california and that because after 1993 in California many mexicans began voting in california to preserve gov bennies--for which the dems excel. There won't be social security benefit for Americans of retirement age from the illegals/legals because they will suck up what ever they put into the economy--as they are now. They won't yield a net gain. ie they won't pay for anyone's social security.

Everyone but everyone who has ever been to any government building that dispenses anything from health care to drivers lisences can't help but notice that the place is swamped with foreigners. Basically the welfare state system set up in the 1960's is being totally gamed by foreigners.

If the president gets his way he will demoralize the republicans bringing on the effects of the 1992 & 1996 elections. There may not even be a third party but when W builds in a reversal of the fortunes of the war of 1848--it creates a kind of passivity in people when they see their leaders commit them to the status of world historical losers.

If Bush decides to put up a wall and expel the illegals then there is a chance to preserve Republican majorities. It would be helpful to promise that the USA will kill the cost of water desalination and transport so as to make it economically possible to turn the deserts 1000 miles from any desert seacoast -- green. (this would increase the habitable size of the USA by a third and double the habitable size of Mexico.)This work is already ongoing and will be accomplished in five years or so--or in about the same time frame that GM promises to have a cost effective fuel cell car. For GM as it is for the GOP its do or die time.

The chief difference between the pubbies current predicament and flight 93 is that they are currently in the cockpit. (if you presume that bush is a republican or at least more of a republican than a bilderburger.)

The point here is that if these guys cannot act like loyal americans at least they can act like republicans. ie people who have a stake in the continuity of the republican party.

Since they are not doing this the republicans in the white house and senate all need to be smacked on both sides of the face and kicked in the but.

We should put a "bounty" on employers of illegal aliens. If you turn one in and they are convicted, you get a percentage of the "take", ie the fines imposed. That would be a great incentive.........

Sorry, GOP, no more pesos or other kind of support for you or your proposals until GOP Senators and the President start acting like conservatives.

I think Mehlman missed the speech.

I'll remind him what was said when I send him Gringo bucks with his next money appeal.

My response:

Dear Ken,

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Have a nice day!

I support the House's plan.

Ken Mehlman and the Axis of Amnesty can push their plan on their own.

Tell the GOP what you think!

Chairman@gop.com

"You cannot reform immigration until you control immigration." Lou Dobbs

"Control" is operative term in all these areas:

Immigration needs to be demonstrated as under control;

Pork spending needs to be shown as under control;

Iraq needs to be seen as a war under control and resolvable.

Only way Pubs will win it!

Unfortunately, I think you'll find many of those hiring illegals are economic conservatives who see nothing wrong with the practice - it's just part of the capitalistic system. What's good for me is good for America.

...done in california and that because after 1993 in California many mexicans began voting in california to preserve gov bennies--for which the dems excel.

Say what? I mean, come on.. Pete Wilson was elected twice, between Arnold and Tom, there was, what, 65% voting for a Republican? It would greatly help if we stopped running morons and idiots for office in this state - what the heck is Moorehead running for Senate for? Better to have run no one than an empty shirt.

Yes, things are bad in California, but blaming Hispanics for choosing not to vote for uncharismatic nobodies doesn't exactly strike me as something much blameworthy. Hell, half of the folks who run in this state with a R after their names embarrass the heck out of me.

The RNC may have decided that California is a waste of money, especially with expensive media buys, but if they want to continue to ignore us, I can do just the same with them.

My reply:

The President's BOLD plan as you call it equals surrender. No votes or donations for any member of Congress that votes for amnesty, errr, earned legalization, errr path to citizenship, whatever else you try to call it

You can put lipstick on the illegal immigration pig but it is still a pig. Let Mexico take care of its own citizens, I am tired of it. When you put enforcement first (and that includes interior) then we can talk again.

See ya in November, or maybe not, depends on whose side the candidate is on, Mexico's citizens or U.S. citizens.

Great idea! Fines would have to be something big, like maybe 10k per illegal for first offense! Maybe base it on gross profits, like 5% of last years profit per illegal might be better, 10k for a large company is nothing, but could bankrupt a small restaurant. If they get caught a second time... pull their business liscense! If they really got tough on employers that hire illegals, they would not need the amnesty part.. all the illegals would head out as soon as work dryed up, then they could apply to come legally from home.

Great idea.........as long as we can do the same for every government welfare worker who signs up illegals and "can't ask about their legal status, every school administrator who can't wait to add illegals to their enrolement, and every two bit politician who wants to make them legal.

My e-mail to the president, vice-president and my senators:

Dear President Bush:

I, and my family, listened with great interest to you speech on immigration last night.

While I certainly agreed with putting the National Guard on the border, that is no substitute for a wall. It works for the Israelis in reducing terrorism, and it will work to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants.

The rest of the speech, however, I found wanting. The problem with immigration is not just that the immigrants are illegal, it is that there are too many of them, legal and illegal. They drain welfare systems and tax dollars meant for Americans. They drive down the wage and salary structure of American workers, who will do any job if the pay is right. This exploitation of both immigrant and American workers is a step up from slavery, but only a step.

They refuse to assimilate, and we make it easy for them by publishing all governmental documents in their languages. We do not teach them English in school, but teach them, poorly, in their own languages.

They bring the cultural pathologies that keep their own countries poor with them, and drag down the standard of living for everyone. I do not doubt for an instant that the vast majority of them are decent, hard-working people who only want a chance for a better life. But that is no reason for them to do it here, especially at the expense of the American taxpayer.

Immigrants add much to our culture, but the base American culture has made it the greatest country on Earth, the one everybody on Earth seems to want to get to. Too much cultural change will destroy that, no matter how benign the intentions of those that want the changes.

Build a wall between the USA and Mexico. Build one between the USA and Canada if necessary.

Ship all apprehended illegal aliens to their home countries.

Enforce rigorous sanctions against those caught employing illegal aliens. Six months in jail for the first offense. Five years in prison for the second. This includes the soccer moms.

Eliminate "birth right" citizenship.

All government documents should be published in English only. Bilingualism should be eliminated in all public schools.

Reduce legal immigration. Eliminate "family reunification" for extended families. Only the spouse and minor children should be allowed in.

The large amounts of immigration currently taking place cannot long be sustained. Not if America is to remain America.

Sincerely,

Chesley
