How well-maintained are they? Are Iranian pilots any good? Do they have spare parts?

Selling them is easy, actually delivering them to Iran is another matter altogether.

I am 100% certain that there is a no transfer clause in the contract that Venezuela signed when they purchased them. They risk having them shot down or destroyed on the ground if they try this.

Sounds like it's time to sink a couple of ships.

Good point. Besides, the Falcons may be outdated versions of the aircraft.

How many aircraft and how do they propose to get them to Iran?

The VENAF F16's are poorly maintained. They are at about 40% readiness.

The Iranians have the ability to get parts via circuitous means (they are still flying F14 TOMCATs). Apparently, VENAF is in negotiations to buy SU27's/30's.

We'll see how that goes.

The Big Giant Head of Venus-zuela may want that to happen.

Looks like live ammo target practice for our pilots.

The Soviets sold 'monkey models' of their fighter aircraft to eastern Europe and other customers. The export versions weren't as good as the real thing so that the USSR didn't worry about facing their own technology in battle.

That said, you'd think the US had resale-restrictions in the agreement to provide the aircraft in the first place. If not, it could get messy. For Iran, that is. The Israeli-modified version of the F-16 makes what Iran will be getting a monkey model.

It would be a shame if they were to be lost at sea during the trip...............

I say good. They should absolutely do that.

And we should absolutely intercept them with some F-22's over the Atlantic...oh wait...they have no clue about inflight refueling and own no tankers, so...that is a no-go.

I imagine that they would use them for spare parts. The Iranians have quite a few old US planes.

Either way, those planes are no threat to us. I can't imagine an F-16 with 20 year old electronics would fare well against an F-22.

Yep - especially since VENAF can't fly worth a S##T.
