This is a story about a young man whose pride in being a Marine exceeds his pride at having graduated high school, and whose school wisely won't make an exception just for him.

I respect the position of both sides in this case. Sometimes you have to choose between alternatives, and so don't get everything you would have liked. That's life.

Good post, I concur. She did the right thing and he did the right thing. That's my view.

Exactly.

His decision to stand proud in his Marine uniform is not a problem at all...and her decision to stick to guidelines is not a problem either.

Actually, I'm sure that by being on the sidelines he stood out even more than if he was in the "general population" of grads that day.

This is not any big deal.
