Report: Canada a 'haven for terrorists'
Scripps Howard News Service ^ | 14 May 06 | Unknown

The State Department is sending an icy blast to our northern neighbors, blaming Canada's liberal immigration and asylum policies for allowing terrorists to set up anti-U.S. operations north of the border.

The State Department says in its annual report on global terrorism that Canada is becoming a haven for terrorists. ''Terrorists have capitalized on liberal Canadian immigration and asylum policies to enjoy safe haven, raise funds, arrange logistical support, and plan terrorist attacks,'' the report says.

South of the border, however, looks all sweetness and light. Mexico ''works closely with the United States on all aspects of counterterrorism, security and prevention,'' the diplomats said. The views from Foggy Bottom contrast with the rhetoric on Capitol Hill, where lawmakers are mapping plans for a wall along the Mexican border, but not along the Canadian side.

I have no doubt that Canada is leaking like a seive. But the fact that the State Department is kissing Vicente Fox's butt makes me very suspicious. I also wonder how much looser Canada's policies are than our own...

It's simple, if a terrorist attach is launched from either Mexico or Canada we invade and create a US territory buffer state. The Texas NG and the New Hampshire NG could handle the job with no problem.

The Border between Mexico and Guatemala is a lot shorter.

Side benefit - lots of oil and cheap labor.

Our policies aren't loose...it's the Feds...they will not enforce our immigration policies and will not, on purpose, secure our borders.

In Richard Minter's excellent book, Disinformation, "Myth #22" is that "The U. S. Border with Mexico is the Most Likely Place for Al Qaeda Terrrists to Snear into the Homeland>."

The real most likely place he states is (indeed): Canada.

Minter includes not only his observations but also Canadian sources such as Stewart Bell whose book is titled, Cold Terror: How Canada Nurtures and Exports Terrorism Around the World.

"Canada has a political climate far different from Mexico", Minter states, "one that actually defends accused terrorists."

From Stewart Bell's book:

"Canadian terrorists spill blood around the world. They are known to have taken part in the 1993 World Trade Center truck bombing in new York, as well as suicide bombings in Israel and...the Bali bombing of Oct. 2002 which killed more than 200 innocent people..."

"The list of specific government failures is extensive, from an immigration system seemingly incapable of deporting even known terrorists, to laws that have proven ineffective at shutting down charities and ethnic associations fronting for terror.<

"But it all stems from a political leadership unwilling to take a stand and secure Canadians and their allies from the violent whims of the world's assorted radicals, fundamentalists, and extremists."

That first line should read "...for Al Qaeda Terrorists to Sneak into the Homeland (the U.S.A.)"

Since reading Joel Mowbray book, Dangerous Diplomacy, there isn't a whole lot about our State Department I find comforting.

Miniter is great and that book is an invaluable reference. I have no doubt that Canada is a great problem, but I believe it is dangerous to have this either/or attitude.

Evidence is mounting that the Jihadists seek to exploit our underbelly.

Below is a link to another story on Al Qaida activities in Mexico, written by an international terrorism expert. I sure hope we're not depending on the Federales down in Mexico to do anything about Al Qaida...

Al Qaeda is not the only Jihadist group south of the border. Hezbollah also has some stuff going on down there...

Ummmm I don't think the United States can be talking about border control. PLEEEEAAASEEE I think this goes both ways. We can't even control our own borders. Who are to talk about Canada and theirs?

Geesh people...wake up already.

I agree with Richard Miniter that we should worry more about our border to the north

Anyone who has thought seriously of this issue has been warning that the REAL problem of terrorist infiltration is in the North. But the Know Nothings are too busy howling about the Mexicans to pay attention to the real issues.

Not if we invade you first.

I know, very childish.....but on par with the "Invade Canada" line that gets thrown around all the time.
