Harris Welcomes Senator Martinez's Support, Harris Campaign Also Responds to Close of Filing

- The Katherine Harris for U.S. Senate campaign welcomed the reiteration of support expressed by U.S. Senator Martinez in comments he made at the National Press Club .

"A number of people have filed today. Harris is by far the most serious of those candidates and I think she will be the nominee. I wish her well. And I think that the best thing she can do is to focus her race on the issues and her opponent and their differences and why she would be a great senator from the state of Florida for this country. I wish her well. And I will be endorsing her -- if I have not already done so. I think I already have, but I will be, I am sure, campaigning with her," Martinez said.

"I am grateful for Senator Martinez's friendship, support, and endorsement. I look forward to having him with me on the campaign trail and serving with him in the United States Senate," Congresswoman Harris said.

---------------------------------------------------------

Earlier today the Katherine Harris for U.S. Senate campaign responded to the close of filing of candidates for the U.S. Senate today.

Campaign spokesman Chris Ingram said, "While we would have preferred not to have had a contested Primary, the campaign is confident that it will continue to maintain and expand the support of loyal Republicans and grassroots activists who share Katherine Harris' commitment to fight for Florida's families, small businesses, and senior citizens."

"The Primary gives us an opportunity to further demonstrate Katherine's commitment to the people of Florida and remind them she will be an independent voice for their concerns in the United States Senate. Today, more than ever, voters want a senator who has their interests in mind, as opposed to the interest of the political power-elite," he said.

THE DIE IS CAST -

The river has been crossed !

It is now time for all of us Conservatives, in Florida and throughout America to back this lady who has shown so much loyalty to our cause . .

The ballsiest woman on f**kin' earth! Stood up to those g*dd*m evil Clintonites and never wavered an instant (unlike so many weak-kneed wusses in congress today)

I love her, love her courage and sense of obligation to principle, her conservative values, and her great bod.

(Which leads me to ask "where is the obligatory picture of her on the horse?!!")

;>)

You took the words right out of my mouth,
my thoughts and feelings and sentiments exactly !

As for those nice images you refer to,
let's keep this thread serious, for Rep. Harris is an important lady who deserves the respect of the office she has so rightfully earned . .

And we thought the dems were dysfunctional in Florida.

I don't understand what the problem is down there.

Marc, I live in Florida and I have been following this, and I sure as heck don't understand why the GOP doesn't like her. Do you - or does anybody - have any ideas?

Of course, during the last presidential campaign, I lived in a mid-sized city here and I saw the local GOP almost tear itself apart, mostly because of entrenched RINOs fighting to hang onto power, so nothing would suprise me.

We need to get rid of Nelson, for certain. The next to go is Martinez. One term for him is one too many.

Well that'll give Harris something else to run for after November.

The problem is, we have a governor and a President who want to promote RINOs over conservatives- much like the McCollum/Martinez race. sad.

Now Harris has to run against Nelson with a Bush-inserted knife between her shoulders.

If so, maybe Katherine can use that to her advantage ? Bush's poll numbers are sliding downhill fast .

Maybe the Harris campaign should distance itself, even move against this increasingly unpopular president and his regime .(I believe Ann Coulter suggested this as well)

I cannot speak about Governor Jeb Bush, for I do not live in Florida and therefore cannot make a judgement as to his true popularity there . .

He's very popular. But just last week, he came out with some silly comment in support of illegal aliens.

If Harris hammers that issue, and maybe something like the Fair Tax, she could distance herself pretty effectively.
