My wife complains that these teenager clothes are all taht's available in stores now. She has been looking like crazy for a pair of jeans that aren't low rise, but isn't having any luck. So her choice is to dress like a tramp or wear old, worn out clothes.
My wife (reluctantly) bought some low (not 'ho) rise jeans and couldn't believe how comfortable they were. Now it's all she buys, and she has even recommended them to some of her friends who report similar experiences.

I can sympathize with her. When I was looking for a new pair of dress pants for the office - it was nearly impossible to find any without "pleats". I didn't want pleated pants, but that's practically all they had.
I have the same problem. Tell her to try Gap Original Fit jeans--they come in boot leg or flare hems, three different lengths, and you can usually find them for around $30 in the store because they're not the low-rise that everyone else wants (they're less at the outlet). There are different fabric combos with different levels of stretchiness, so it's good to check the tags and try a couple of different styles/fabrics, because some of the less-stretchy are looser in the thigh than the real stretchy ones. And they fit women who have waists and hips!
If she's built like I am (fairly straight up-and-down, not a lot of waist but not a lot of hips either) she can wander over to the men's department at Target and buy the men's Wrangler jeans. The relaxed fit fits almost anybody and they are DIRT cheap.
I have never been able to wear women's jeans, though. If the waist fits, I could smuggle an entire family of illegals in the seat, and if the seat fits I can't breathe.
If she actually has womanly curves, the Limited has a high-rise jean that my daughter buys.
BS. Two words - Ann Taylor.
For classic good clothing, Ralph Lauren is my first choice, which I buy on sale :)

Has she tried Chico's? They are in most malls. I only went in one briefly, looking for something "after 5," and they didn't have anything along those lines, only more casual stuff. Their target customer is the woman who wants to look up-to-date but doesn't want to show off her navel.
Costco often has Gloria Vanderbilt "jeans" of varying styles
If she can find regular-price pants NOT "low rise" - AKA hip-huggers - TELL ME! Only Facconable has these consistently but they are very expensive (and cool).
I hate these things, for multiple reasons.
Styles of the '90s - please LEAVE, LEAVE, LEAVE!
Of course, my teen nieces tell me I wear "mom jeans." That's OK -- I'm a MOM!
I have to agree with you! It's hard to find clothes that aren't low cut (either on top or bottom) or show off your stomach. I'm just thankful "long" shirts are 'cool' right now so I can actually wear things that don't creep up my stomach!
Eddie Bauer traditional cut might work.
Kohls, Lands End, Eddie Bauer, Coldwater Creek. More I'm sure.
"looking like crazy for a pair of jeans that aren't low rise, but isn't having any luck."
Tell her to check the men's section. I've been wearing men's jeans for years because of the unrealistic cut of women's jeans.
So true. I try to find clothes and your wife is so right - it's very hard to find stuff that's not this teeny-bopper stuff. What I hate is that I'm petite and the petite clothes are often so granny-ish and so you have a choice between granny and teeny-bopper. I like Talbots and the classic look but now that I'm back in school, the dressier clothes are not very practical.
Look in the men's department. There's no difference in men's and women's jeans, except that women's are cut much, much lower.
