The paid opinion shapers are deliberately making it impossible to discuss the issue intelligently, imo. It's what they are paid to do and freepers have fallen for it. I had thought we were smarter than this.

He has one problem with that speech. He includes everyone as an immigrant, legal or illesgal.

It is funny that he is going to make a speech with his poll numbers slipping into the 20's. Notice how the polls for Bush dropped after the minutemen and Mexico scandal appeared.

He screwed up calling the minutemen, vigilantes.

"I wonder what Terri Schiavo would have thought of this immigration acrimony?"

She'd have lost her appetite?

Oh, and I wish I'd saved the article about how approximately 240 Arizona sheriffs formed a posse and tried to catch illegals. They caught one! One!

It's not quite as easy as the armchair generals here would have us think.

Thank God that there is still plenty of time before November, things will be more clear-cut by then, the GOP is switching to election mode as we speak.

LOL, if you aren't a sniveling BUSHHATER, then you are for illegals, my god, no wonder we have little or no Conservative representation in State and Federal Houses.

For it is those Conservatives who could have pressured the President relentlessly and maturely to sign a harsh bill.

Especially in the border states, where they could have had millions of citizens all together to say to him, we want this.

Do you have a link where the president referred to the Minute Men as vigilantes? I thought that had been debunked as urban legend.

Oh, she probably wanted to write the President a letter, but that that evil HINO wouldn't let her.

*smirk*

No one has had their act together on this matter but, as you said, November is a way off and maybe by then they'll pull it together.

At least the president is trying which is more than any other president has ever done in our lifetimes.

Bush is making a mistake. No speech is better than one in which he seeks to finess, spin, and offer capitulation in the guise of cosmetic compromise on this illegal invasion issue.

Who said they did?

You did.

It's time to support republicans like Sheriff Arpaio in Arizona who is doing the job our president won't do.

BS. Tell me one other president who has had a better policy on illegal immigration. Just one name will do.

Under this president, 6 million illegals have been sent back. I'll bet that's more than any other president too.

If true, he has no base. Only hangers-on and kool aid drinkers left to support him.

God bless our military and Minutemen.

12 Million Illegals over the period of one year =
Finding, catching, processing, and deporting one every 22 minutes.

And the president is ending catch and release, something no other president has done.

That's the spirit. Insulting the base ("those nuts") refusing to enforce the law, and getting in bed with McCain and Ted Kennedy is just the political strategy needed to win in November. /sarcasm off/

Too bad, plenty of people in the white house think just like you. That's why Bush has a rock bottom approval. rating.

Here's a brilliant idea, why not enforce the immigration laws and give the American people what they actually *want*?

No respect for the deceased I see. Quite a low blow. But not surprising.

Last year, it took an average of 66 days to process a non-Mexican illegal immigrant. Now, the process is taking only 21 days. This has helped us end "catch-and-release" for illegal immigrants from Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua caught crossing our Southwest border. Since last summer, the total number of non-Mexican illegal immigrants released into society has been cut by more than a third. There is more work ahead, and the Administration will work with Congress to close loopholes that make it difficult to process illegal immigrants from certain countries and will continue pressing foreign governments like China to take back their citizens who enter our country illegally.
