Swishers- Nasty.

Most Cubans have gone so downhill, I wouldn't be surprised if the counterfeits are actually better. Just give me a C.A.O. Brazilia and I'm happy.

A box of 25 for $6 and change, about the same cost to me as a CAO.

Here in Louisiana it gets a little tough to roll your own cigarettes during hurricane season, at which time I fall back on these....

Ran into some fake COHIBA'S, in the cigar shop at the Nugget in Vegas. They were the yellow labels, from Cuba, only had 4 rows of dots, and said Caribbeans finest, in fine print.
You gotta watch out.

Picked up a box of Conga's from La Perla, 42 bucks for a box of 20. Damn fine cigars, consistent in manufacture and burn, with a medium full taste. I recommend them to all.

Kramer : You got cigars , huh .

Jerry : I got some Cubans for George's wedding . They were more than I wanted to pay for but what the hell !

Kramer : Oh yeah baby . spit , spit . What are these ? " Perducto de Peru " Jerry , if you think these are Cubans you have another thing coming .

Jerry : Peru ! I paid $300 bucks for these . I could have bought a house in Peru for $300 bucks !

Ok, maybe someone knowledgable can comment on this.
I've been under the impression that Castro ran out all the top cigar families (capitalist pigs) and screwed up the tobacco fields through years of over fertilization. So now, Cuban cigars have little value aside from a status symbol and the old families that were displaced around the region, like Dominican Republic, have been producing superior cigars but they just don't have that marketing edge of being "Cuban".

In this country, Cohiba is by definition, fake. Or illegal, take your pick. Overpriced for darn sure.
Everyone's tastes vary, but I like LOTS of different kinds, mostly Dominican made. It's a joy trying the different kinds.

A wise man once told me that the reason that Montecristos were so good is that they were rolled on the thighs of young virgins in Cuba. I don't know about that but I always thought they were awfully good cigars. I still get them whenever I have occasion to wander up to Toronto or Montreal.

Bad news but not New news. This has been a problem for aprox. 8 years or so. Always buy from a reputable shop. Caveat Emptor Fumis!
