Herndon voters yesterday unseated the mayor and two Town Council members who supported a bitterly debated day-labor center for immigrant workers in a contest that emerged as a mini-referendum on the turbulent national issue of illegal immigration.
Residents replaced the incumbents with challengers who immediately called for significant changes at the center. Some want to bar public funds from being spent on the facility or restrict it to workers living in the country legally. Others want it moved to an industrial site away from the residential neighborhood where it is located.

An early bellwether. Do you think the stupid Republicans will be able to understand the message here? They had better stand strong on illegals or they face a disaster in November.

There will be no future for politicians who support illegal immigration except for a very few extremely communist/liberal cities.

The problem is the rats are almost universally far worse than even the Repub party line of illegals and immigration. If they could they would import equal numbers of groups from all major third world areas to 'balance' the number of Latinos. Soon the US would really look like the Camp of the Saints. This is the rat answer to illegal immigration.

A not very bright assumption of cause and effect.
It will be more like more voters will hold their noses while continuing to vote Republican.
The alternative simply isn't there. Even if the Dims promised on a stack of bibles that they would fix the problem, I wouldn't believe it!

I have been a Republican probably since before you were born, but I have to ask you:
Except for a few notable exceptions, viz. Peter King, what has the GOP answer been?

West of DC and east of Dulles Airport. One the western edge of Reston.

I think they understand the message and are feverishly working on a plan to have it both ways.

True-believers will hold their noses. The less committed republicans will simply stay home. Losing is the price of betraying your supporters.
I just can't believe how amazingly CLUELESS the party is being.

The key here is to support our people in the primaries.
Then we do not have to hold our noses

The Repub answer has been to mostly hide and hope the problem will go away. That is the usual Repub congressional answer to anything where there is heat involved. Worse now since the Prez is pretty determined he is going to push some sort of sham pest worker program through and smuggle in another amnesty. The problem is that the cowardly repubs are less awful than the neo-communist dems. The only answer I see is to vote third part if a candidate is available in safe repub districts and vote repub in battleground districts. If you live in a state that has a lot of angry conservative repubs such as say Ga. work inside the party to push it as far to the right as possible and work for the emergence of some sort of independent voter block that can threaten repubs with real vote loss.
I think there is a good chance for some sort of internal revolt inside the party in the next year that will lead to the last thing I wrote of in some states.
The problem I see in letting dems win is that they are absolutely determined if they can ever win either house back or the White House they will make sure they will never be unseated again. The potential for third world style election stealing and strong arm tactics by the government against its 'enemies' is very real if the dems ever control Congress and the White House again. I hesitate to say it but I think this can eventually lead to a lot of civil disobedience that will not be particularly peaceful after strong arming is engaged in by the governemnt. From there the path to armed resistance is clear.

Steve King, Iowa CongressCritter, wants a wall down there yesterday.
To: TBP
The GOP is clueless. They're going down in November. Even the GOP's secret weapon, the idiot Howard Dean, can't fumble the ball on the goal line that many times.
Some people just want to be hurt.
To: Redbob
Herndon is Ho Chi Mihn City here in NOVA. Not very Republican or conservative.
