India has made headlines as an emerging superpower, a land of high-tech multimillionaires and a vast new market for American goods. But there is another India too, and it is not just the one of villages and ox carts that has always been best known in the West.

Hindu Fundamentalists? WTF?
There is more and more persecution of Christians in India that pretty much has stayed under the radar. There are very radical Hindus.
All fundamentalists are zealots.
Well, first it was pork off the menu to make muslims happy and next it will be beef to make the hindu's happy...
As Art Hoppe wrote many years ago:
Save us from those who would save us.
A radical Hindu believes in reincarnation with extreme prejudice. ;-)
As you probably know, SOLDIEROFJESUSCHRIST has posted numerous threads on the matter, and it is not just "civil" persecution. To include beatings and murder.
Fortunately, most Hindus here and there have no such tendencies.
Hindu fundamentalists, eh? What's their beef?;))
Their dream is to return to the pre-Gandhi, pre-British world of strictly enforced castes, traditional Hindu practices (like wifeburning) and Vedic social codes.
It sounds as if you aren't familiar with the Hindu fundamentalists. They are very anti-Christian. They have imprisoned missionaries and can be very dangerous.
that's not funny, that's Sikh.
Those Hindu fundamentalists should just Goa way.
"All fundamentalists are zealots."
You seen to suggest there is something wrong with zealots. As a Roman Catholic allow me to ask when the last time you heard of a fundamentalists Christian, let us say......a Baptist, who blow up a Mosque or a Hindu shrine?
I can think of a few such things but it is easier to see a blue moon than a dangerous radical Christian fundamentalist.
Check out the bible-thumpers whining their tunes; Mr. Pot meet Mr. Kettle
LOL!
Correct. Gandhi's assassin, Nathuram Godse, was a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha.
It was founded as an anti-Christian, anti-Muslim political organization in 1915.
It's first vice president, Keshava Baliram Hedgewar, left the ABHM to form a fascist paramilitary organization - modeled on Mussolini's Blackshirts - called Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
The ABHM and the RSS had a working relationship for decades. The RSS began toning down the fascist pageantry in the 1950s and in 1952 elements from both groups formed the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, a Hindu nationalist political party, under the leadership of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who had served as the head of ABHM in Bengal.
In 1980, Mukherjee's protege Atal Bihari Vajpayee formed a new Hindu nationalist party based from the BJS and other smaller and even more radical Hindutva (Hindu racial nationalist) organizations.
The new party was called the Bharatiya Janata.
Vajpayee became Prime Minster from 1998-2004.
So, basically, Gandhi's assassin's ideology triumphed over Gandhi's ideals at the Indian polls.
Are you aware that zealotry does not imply wrongdoing?
