Joseph Wilson's Revenge - Why no special prosecutor for the latest CIA leak case?
Slate.com ^ | April 24, 2006 | Christopher Hitchens

If Mary O. McCarthy should ever be so desperate as to need a character witness, or to require one so badly that she must stoop to my level, I declare in advance that I shall step forward pro bono. I am quite willing to accept that whatever she did or did not do or say about the surreptitious incarceration of al-Qaida suspects overseas (and let's not prejudge this), she did it from the most exalted motives.

Hitchens tries to be fair, and whether or not I agree with him over the McCarthy situation, I love how he so easily shows up the MSM for their utter, TOTAL hypocrisy regarding "good" CIA leaks (those that hurt Bush)and "bad" leaks (those that, um, don't hurt Bush).

I'm always against oversimplification, but it really IS that simple. And the press should be reminded of that daily.

Actually, the lines posted from his article here are misleading. He points out the bias in pursuing Libby, but not McCarthy, for leaking.

"She did it for the most exalted motives">>>>>>>>>>>>>>

She went against the explicit policies of her ultimate superior, The President of the United States

If she wanted to be engaged in "exalted" activity, she should have run for public office. She is an employee of the executive arm of government,a civil servant, and should be punished severly if found guilty.

Treason and /or sedition is not "exalted" in any way, shape or form.

And she knows it.
