Democrats Ask, Who do you trust to Lower Gas Prices?

Democrats say they have a "simple strategy" that will help them win the midterm elections. They plan to ask voters who they trust to lower prices at the pump.

In an email message to supporters on Wednesday, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee touted a Democratic plan to lower the price of gas immediately (and temporarily).

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) has proposed a 60-day "holiday" on the federal gasoline tax that supposedly would lower prices by nearly 20 cents a gallon. "It's something we can do right now to ease the burden on middle-class families across America," the DSCC said.

Considering the Dems have blocked every attempt to make our country less defended on foreign oil

They are the LAST ones I would trust

Democrats Ask, Who do you trust to Lower Gas Prices?

I'm sure glad that they didn't limit my choice of answers...

I trust most the free market.
All those willing to put up with the crap of the ignorant and the Bugs and Bunny crowd to develop more oil sources and to build additional power plants, particularly nuclear.

That's whom I trust.

The people who put their money where their mouth is.
Talk is cheap. Constant harping is insufferable.

They better be careful what they ask. Two years from now that same question could be thrown back at them when gas hits $4.00 a gal.

How abour drilling for oil in ANWR and the gulf coast?

How dare them thinking they can buy us off with a little kickback!!

Do not lower gas taxes. Do not send me a rebate check.
Spend that money on alternative energy research and development. I trust private enterprise to moderate the cost of gasoline and oil.
Defininitely DO NOT TRUST CONGRESS AND ESPECIALLY DEMOCRATS TO LOWER THE COST OF OIL BECAUSE THEY BLOCK ALL INITIATIVES FOR DOMESTIC PRODUCTION AND EXPLORATION!!

They have done nothing for the past 35 years. Why start now?? Elections my friends. It's all about power. They could care less about how much Americans pay for gasoline or things would be very different going back 35 years.

ahhh...got that off of my chest.

I trust Dems to lower gas prices.

I trust them to implement price controls, which will lower the price per gallone down to $2.00 or so.

Unfortunately, at that price no one will want to sell it, so we'll be back to Carteresque gas lines and gas stations with no product.

But at least the price will be low. That is, until they increase the taxes up to $4.00 a gallon to encourage conservation.

I trust the free market, Republican, capitalists!

What have the dems done?
Blocked Bush's energy program,
Blocked oil exploration,
Blocked coal mining,
Blocked wind farm construction off of Kennedy's playground,
Blocked Nuclear power plants,
Blocked oil refineries,
Levied high state and federal gas taxes,
Proposed the theft of oil profits, so that money is no longer available for discovering fuel alternatives and exploration.
Proposed bribing us with our own money, instead of not taking it the first place.

Just being for drilling doesn't cut it. I want action. Unless drills hit the ground and oil starts pumping with new refineries being built I refuse to listen to anyone. We all know how to fix the problem but our leaders refuse to lead.

Can I steal this?

It can't be repeated often enough.
Perhaps it might even sink in to the DU'ers who's to blame.

If the 'Rats really want to get behind some legislation that will help prices lon term, they would suport opening ANWR right now.

Instead of getting out of the way of the people who can do the most good at reducing our dependence on foreign oil, there is only talk of doing more harm.

Well, I am increasingly embracing the best solution of all:

An immediate $2 per gallon tax on gasoline.
Wait. Hear me out. I am as serious as a prostate exam here...
Maybe we can pull a Cinton here, and make it retroactive!

It would accomplish five very desireable things:

1. It would guarantee that all incumbent politicians at the federal and state level will need to get real jobs --- they'll all be gone within two years.

2. The tax is to be used exclusively for a massive acceleration of the development of oil shale extraction from our 200-year supply.

3. The tax is dependent and conditional only on the immediate drilling at ANWR.

4. It will force frivolous use of gasoline to be eliminated or greatly reduced in the short term.

5. It will scare the bejeesis out of the sandmaggots.

A win-win all around...

The FIRST order of buisness for the GOP should be to show Senator GORE attempting to get support for $2.50 a gallon gas (to save the earth ya know), and list all the DEMS who supported the screwy idea.

There is so much more our GOP leaders could be doing. I do get frustrated with them. I have high hopes that Tony Snow will make a difference (fingers crossed)
My husband often says many of our Republican leaders are so clumsy at basic "politicking" they remind him of an
Elephant in a china shop. (pun intended)
